Gold and Diamond members receive a $13 per person room charge credit. Solo travellers asking nicely can receive a $26 credit by having the room listed as double occupancy. (or just book for two)
Credit can be used at most on-property venues except Chill'm. Gratuities cannot be applied against this credit. You are not obliged to apply this credit against breakfast.
Breakfast buffet costs $26. A take-away breakfast is available at the food court for $13.
Resorts fees are NOT added to award stays using all points.

I'll be staying here next month and I reached out to Hilton and Twitter about the breakfast for Golds, and was told I get a free "continental breakfast".

Have any diamonds had any luck getting the resort fee waived? Do diamonds still have access to the lounge?

I haven't been able to get the resort fee waived (although it should be waived on an award stay). YES, Diamonds still have access to the VIP lounge, which is especially nice for a quick check-in.

Anybody any experience of this property giving any status benefits even when booked through a TA? The price I was offered through BA was a lot less than Hilton direct and had resort fees reduced to just $15 per night. Saving around $50 on a cheap two night stay. If I don’t get the benefits I don’t think I’m missing out on anything.

I'm staying there on a free 3-night marketing package as a gambler. Do you think I'll still get the free breakfast as a HH Diamond? The reservation is not booked through Hilton and I cannot link my membership number to the reservation. I was hoping to just show my Diamond card upon check-in.

FlyerTalk once again saves the day. I’m at the Tropicana. Just checked in. I was going to use points for my whole stay but after reading the reviews I decided to just do 1 night then get a cheap room after.
Free breakfast buffet
you click agree when you check in to the $35 resort fee.
I asked for a room with a balcony, because why not. So I got a bungalow. Glad I chose it. A lot less people and easy enter and exit from the hotel.
Ill whole heartedly agree. This place is past its prime.
Ill save my points for a better property.
Thanks again FlyerTalk.

"We contacted the hotel and spoke with the Front Desk Team. They confirmed that if the reservation is 100% on Points, the resort fee is waived. If the stay is Points & Money, then the resort fee is charged since there is a paid portion."
If you were on 100% point redemption and were charged a resort fee, you should talk to the front desk (or get Loren involved).

Just stayed last week. 100% points stay and NO resort fee. However, they changed the breakfast offering by giving you a $13 credit per person (max 2 people) to use everywhere except Chil'm bar.

Just completed a 1 night stay last week as a Gold HH member. As stated above, there is only a credit for breakfast of $13, however the breakfast buffet at Savor Restaurant is 21.95, so I paid the difference. Room was a modest upgrade, but appreciated, since many other properties don't do this. My room was in the Club Tower, which is a long walk from the front desk. Condition of the room was good but a little sparse on furniture. The resort fee of $35 is actually $39.68 due to taxes being applied.
Overall I would stay here again but if visiting with my family I would likely seek a nicer property.

As a local, I occasionally get comped room offers through casino marketing. I recently did a two night stay and here is a mini trip report:
(1) I'm Diamond level. The executive lounge is available for check in and will save you the impossibly long queues at the regular desk, and at the Hhonors check in desk. The lounge staff are mostly friendly. Don't expect an upgrade, they will tell you they are at capacity during your stay. In the morning, there is free coffee; the rest of the day, water from a beverage dispenser (no bottled water in the lounge). You will get your Doubletree cookies, if you ask.
(2) If you are here on a casino marketing "comped room" stay, you will NOT get your Diamond benefits. Zip. Nothing. However, even if you book directly through Hilton, you still do NOT get your Diamond benefits of two breakfasts per day. Nope. The Savor buffet here is about $26 per person Tropicana will give you $13 per person, per day. So, it is a "buy one, get one free" breakfast for Diamond members.
(3) The Savor buffet, recently remodeled and re-opened, is horrendous, in my opinion. My advice: take the $26 credit per day and use it elsewhere on property. The Executive lounge staff confirmed that the credit can be used anywhere on property, before midnight of each day, so you don't need to use it for breakfast.
(4) Our room was a standard room in the preferred Paradise tower. If you are lucky enough to actually get a room on the 15th floor (the official HHonors floor), you will get a complimentary coffee maker and a small refrigerator in your room.. Otherwise, nothing in-room on regular floors. Zip.
(5) Housekeeping is atrocious. Our room, two queen beds, was dirty at check-in. Neither of the beds had fresh linens . . . rather the housekeeper had pulled the top sheet over the dirty prior guest's linens, and tucked it tight to appear fresh. However, in my case, it was noticed immediately, due to luggage imprints and dirty shoe prints on the top sheet. Pulled it back right away, to discover sheets full of hairs and lovely "butt" imprints. YUCK. It took over 90 minutes for a housekeeper at 8 p.m. to make it to the room to change linens. The supervisor on duty was totally indifferent when we complained. Very disappointing, but I had the feeling this happens often at this property.
(6) If you are a non=smoker, like me, be wary of the fact that they allow smoking in the suites, even if on a non-smoking floor.
(7) If you are driving to Tropicana, be aware that parking is at a premium because it is still free, a rarity here. Lots of folks park here at Trop when going to an event at T.Mobile, or when staying at MGM across the street.
Overall, I give Trop one out of five stars. It is amazing that Hilton does not drop this property, especially for the shabby way that Diamonds are treated.
