Gold and Diamond members receive a $13 per person room charge credit. Solo travellers asking nicely can receive a $26 credit by having the room listed as double occupancy. (or just book for two)

Credit can be used at most on-property venues except Chill'm. Gratuities cannot be applied against this credit. You are not obliged to apply this credit against breakfast.

Breakfast buffet costs $26. A take-away breakfast is available at the food court for $13.

Resorts fees are NOT added to award stays using all points.

Just wandering: what's the resort fee these days at the Tropicana? Is it higher or lower than the advertised room rate? What's included with that fee, free water? Two for one-tickets? Free local calls like back in the day?

Hi,

It is $37 per day ( and can be more than the room rate ie next Tue-Fri rooms are starting from $35)

It offers "Daily Resort Charge will be added to the room rate and includes: Internet access; fitness center access; valet/self parking; buy 1-get 1 free cocktail, beer or wine in Oakville Steakhouse 5pm to 7pm; 2 for 1 at Laugh Factory; discounted show tickets; 2 bottles of water per day; local/toll-free calls"

( details are from the hotel details page when booking at hilton.com)

Regards

TBS

Looking at staying at the Tropicana to use our $250 Aspire credit. I have never stayed at this property and was wondering how is this property, how much can I expect to pay for the $79 room -- I am assuming around $130 including taxes and resort fees, and more importantly, how good is the upgrade? Personally, I have had slightly better experience of upgrades with Marriott Gold than Hilton Diamond. Thanks!

The hotel to me is pretty meh. A lot of the rooms are pretty aged. I wouldn't count on much of an upgrade.

Hilton.com will show you the total price of a $79 room, just begin booking one and review the total price.

That's not how the $250 resort credit works. You will pay the full $600 to the hotel, and you get the $250s credited back on the statement (by Amex).
Generally you can just ask the front desk to apply a set payment to each card, and then set which one is to be used for any remainder. You can call and ask the hotel front desk if they allow split payment if you want to make sure.

I have never seen a hotel NOT allow split payment.

Same. I just like to avoid absolute assumptions. And I've been bitten myself on some I've made before that I thought were reasonable.

I could conceive a misguided manager decreeing the credit card must match the name on the reservation, or that the credit fee is higher for multiple payments so they don't allow it, or something else like that.

Just finished a 2 night stay here, I am a Hilton Diamond via Aspire and earned stays. I was not really expecting much after reading this thread but wanted to use my Aspire resort credit so I thought I would give this a try. No upgrade, so I got what I paid for...a dump! Room was very outdated (I was expecting that), but it was also filthy! I travel a lot for work and pleasure and stay in a wide variety of hotels because I often work in smaller towns. The Best Western in Dunkirk, NY was cleaner and nicer than the Tropicana. This hotel is not even "worth free".

Which part of the hotel were you staying in? Club Tower, Paradise Tower or the 'Bungalows'?

I've only stayed in the Paradise Tower and whilst the rooms aren't luxurious, I've never found them to be dirty or in a state of disrepair.

Stayed as a Diamond member probably 20 times and I've *never* had an upgrade.

I stay here as the location and logistics are perfect for quickly getting out and about by car. The 26USD credit helps too. Last visit (on points, 5 nights for 4) cost me a grand total of 54USD (must have been bar staff tips)!

The new bar, replacing the old lounge, is actually rather nice (apart from one of the bar staff who is a right so and so).

finally, this fake DT HH is being sold off. good riddance. only respected the free parking here. other than that it was a dump that Penn National wanted to get rid of. but i dont mind dumps since i do plenty IHG ghettos, but I need ancillary loyalty benefits and promos to work. therefore, I dont get why its always so busy. HH Diamond is useless here even with the FB credits. ive had so many HH promo issues since its not a real DT HH property and FD are not HH trained. they are more casino side and VIP players were the priority which makes sense since its a casino, but i dont play here. im 100% Mlife and CET. so I stopped staying here. i guess it will become a hard rock now.

That article doesn't cite any sources. I wouldn't hold my breath right now if I were you.
