No. A definite drawback, IMHO. And generally not upgradeable, though I'm no FF expert.

If you use HH points to get a ticket on AA, it is booked in N fare basis, and appears to be upgradeable. I have not tried to upgrade mine, but someone has posted on FT last year that he/she was able to do just that.

Only in the US, and only with 500-mile e-upgrade stickers can you upgrade AA/HHonors awards.

Didn't see it above (maybe I missed it?) --

Are the UA awards (either the coach award or the companion ticket) upgradeable?

Has anyone try using the UA "AP5UA" code to fly between Los Angeles or San Francisco and Maui instead of Honolulu.
