Will I go Down the Drain?
I made Diamond last year the hard way. Spent all my points (and then some) on a nice stay at the Paris Hilton.
I have no stays this year, and was told I was not eligible for some of the fast track promos. I'll probably end the year with no stays. Will Hilton drop me all the way to zero status, or do they do a "soft landing"? Even Gold would be better than dirt. |
My understanding from reading the terms and conditions is that you get what you earn. Thus if you didn't have any stays, you wouldn't have even earned silver, and thus will be dropped to blue. However, if you have a hilton visa or hilton amex, I am fairly certain that as a benefit with having the card, you get lifetime silver status.

I was Gold until this year, then summarily demoted to Blue in April. Consequently I have no stays in 2003. But I got an email two weeks ago warning me that my points will expire 1 December without a qualifying stay, and urging me to book something... then a targeted "fast track to Silver" promo this week (need two stays by 15 December)... so they are making a retention effort -- unlike certain airlines that instead mount repulsion efforts.

Will I go Down the Drain?
That is the second thread today! Am I going to have to inflict the same torture (my warped sense of humor, that is) here that I did to the pour FlyerTalker in this thread? My apologies if the link did not make you laugh or even smile, BigLar. For the record, I do not know the answer to your question personally, but I hope you do not descend at least below Gold Hilton HHonors status for next year. |
