Hi all, just got off the phone with a Waldorf Astoria in Florida. The reservation specialist seemed very sure that Gold and Diamonds would now receive full breakfast as a benefit at W=A properties. Is this also a change for 2012?
She said a memo had been sent out to gold/diamonds, but I have yet to see anything. Please say it is so, as this would be an outstanding benefit/value given the cost of W=A breakfasts! ($70 for two at this particular resort).

Afternoon tea and evening "happy hours" are pointless at least for me. It oblige you to come between certain hours to have a free drink & snacks which are not dinner replacement by anyway. They make you apetite less so when you leave you are confused if you should go for a proper dinner or you won't manage to have one. So you end up a day with not having a proper dinner as you were filled up by snacks and sandwiches. Well, at least that's mine feeling. I would so much more prefer to get two vouchers for any free drinks to have them anytime instead of this funny 2 evening hours.
There is also another point of view to consider. For single or business travellers perhaps lounge make more sense to socialize with others. For people like myself travelling with wife, Suite would be much better. Obviously they could throw in a bottle of wine every day like it happened to me few times at Hilton Malta where at 7 days stays I was getting a voucher for bottle of wine every day either red or white for either in room or in restaurant use... But I guess you can't ask for too much

My, but you people do go on, don't you?
I read the OP and not very many of the replies, but I can contribute an actual experience that seems to be on point.
I'm Diamond and stayed at the HGI in NYC over the weekend. At check-in the clerk asked if I wanted breakfast or points, which I thought was odd since breakfast is in my preferences and they usually don't ask. Anyway, I said breakfast and got the coupons.
I now see online that my account has also been credited with 750 my way choice points as well.
So the new deal may have kicked in already, at least at some properties.

It will really be nice if an official HiltonHHonors representative would weigh in here with the news. After all, this forum is read by folks who routinely spend 100+ nights/per year at Hilton-family hotels. You'd think that the management might actually like to convey this news to their best customers. Particularly, since, inexplicably, these changes actually appear to be good.

Sheesh, take one day off and a thread can really explode!
Something I saw that I need to address: The poster who uploaded that sign is NOT a company representative any more than I am. That particular employee's property may have enacted the new changes but it is not an official system-wide rollout until it is announced as such.

I feel your pain. I was on an extended stay (3 weeks) at the Hampton Inn & Suites in Bay City, TX when I returned from a run and asked for a water on my way back to the room and the desk agent wanted to charge me for it.
I said I'm Diamond and I'm here for 3 weeks! She tells me you get water once free PER STAY not per day. I'm like you're kidding me?

Not sure if this is just a North America roll-out initially. Just checked in to one of the London Doubletrees and had a good conversation with the agent. They know nothing about anything new for Diamonds and after speaking to a colleague, they both clarified that it was news to them.
