The useful World Climate Charts says this about Nadi, Fiji - perhaps good for others considering a visit.

Jan - Apr are the highest rain months. In some cases, that means rainy afternoons or nights, at others you could even encounter a tropical cyclone. At least you will know about it, as Nadi hosts the Regional Specialised Meteorological Centre (RSMC) Nadi-Tropical Cyclone Centre, Fiji Meteorological Service.

Just came back home after spending a week at this beautiful property. As the previous poster mentioned - great place and good diamond treatment.

If anyone is heading over there in December - I may be able to get some excellent rates for you!

Spa. Recent experiences.

I am making a one night trip in from SYD. Has anyone used the Spa and in particular booked a massage? Prices? Customary tip in Fiji? Thank you.

Airport to Resort and "loop" bus. ATM. Lounge at NAN.

Hello. Confirming up thread a cab from airport (NAN) to Hilton is around $20 Fiji? What is the tip protocal in Fiji? It also sounds like there might be a bus to take you around. Would that be recommended for "seeing" the Island? Cost?

I will only be on Island for one night. ATM at airport or use a currency exchange booth? Any advice appreciated. Are USD or AUD dollars readily accepted?

I have Priority Pass and outbound on Virgin Australia. According to the website the Fiji Air Lounge has varied limited hours. Thoughts? Thank you.

Upon arrival I changed $120 USD at the ANZ bank location prior to exiting customs. There is also a ATM and another ANZ location after exiting customs. Slow process.

I took a cab. The price announced to me by the driver was $25 which was fine with me. In the zone. They are pretty good at working it. I am on island for one night only. Paid a few extra bucks for dime tour of Nadi town and temple at end of street. Worth it as I knew would not leave the general area of the Hilton after checking in. A cab from the Hilton to Marina (shopping center) is $5. The loop bus is $1 per trip. The "hut" bus is $7 for all day pass.

I don't know the prices for the Spa at the Hilton. Not seen a list around. At the Marina there are at least three spa / massage businesses. They are small shops so you need to book early. On the way from the airport also noted a couple locations.

Prior to arrival I contacted the Resort. The replies were quick and prompt. Between the time of my booking and arrival upgraded three times via e-mail. I had already decided upon arrival would be asking for a second floor room/suite with full on water view. I noted noise mentioned in other posts being on the ground floor and also of course given the tropical climate bugs both small and large. The agent accomodated me and it is not a bad walk to the front desk check-in area where you get transportation.

Arriving into the room I always check for cleanliness, pull back the duvet and in this case check for bugs. There were a few very very very small bugs around the sink in the bathroom and kitchen. Upon leaving advised front desk and when I returned a can of bug spray has been left. Found my first big bug this morning.

I can easily see why people on the first floor would get noise. Everything is tile with no soft floor surfaces. I've had a couple issues and the resort has been quick to respond. Still a total waste of time. A couple hints. Before unpacking try to connect with the internet. If you are going to use inroom then wired may NOT be your only option. The resort has had to make some modifications to provide certain rooms with wifi. The whole login process is hit or miss. But it will eventually work if you line is good or signal good from your in room wifi router.

The showers leak. The door is always ajar so no use putting down a bathmat or slippers before entering. Just have them handy to put down from the counter before you exit.

Service. Certain parts of resort service are slow. Even when you want to spend money. That being said the manager on duty went out of her way to respond even coming out to the villa twice. Amazing service but would prefer no issues to start with.

I'm not sure about the beaches but since my arrival none of the beach area in front of my room has been used. People are using the pools but not beaches on this side. A fair number of family but not a noise issue.

I had issues which were resolved promptly and in a very professional manner. The property has another issue which with hope will be solved when the restaurant renovation is completed.

Now those issues. Sometimes the memory of them go away when you have in place great service recovery. This Resort does. The MOD ran to the front desk area to greet me and see me off. Guest relations called at least four times.

The ride back to NAN airport was $30. The Lounges were all closed and sometimes there is a secondary check before boarding the plane. At SYD was able to use the e gate entry with my US passport which has Global Entry.

My $120 USD changed lasted the entire time with a little to spare and be generous.

I am doing some Pacific island hopping in August and have three nights planned in the Nadi area. I have tentatively booked at this hotel but am concerned because I will be traveling alone and don't want to be stuck at an isolated resort with honeymooning couples and families. I normally stay in centrally located business-type hotels in major cities where I can walk to a variety of attractions, bars, restaurants, etc. On the other hand, I hear that Nadi town is not very attractive.

So I guess the question is, is this hotel OK for a solo traveler or would I feel out of place and are there better options? Are there good options to get away from the resort to nearby nightlife/attractions? Thanks.

I guess my first question would have to be- why three nights in Nadi? Was also solo one night and thank goodness because I would have paid a airline change fee to leave. In the general area there is the Marina (that was quick) and Nadi town which you seem to know about already. If I HAD to have three nights in Nadi then I could only keep myself sane as a solo tourist resort hop every night.

Well, it's how the flights worked out. 50,000 United miles to go from Southeast Asia to South Pacific and back in business class. Flying Phnom Penh-Bangkok-Sydney-Auckland-Tonga. Then Apia-Auckland 10 days later. Then on to Perth-Bangkok-Phnom Penh.

So I've got ten days in the South Pacific. Want to go to Vanuatu while I'm there. It worked out 2 nights Tonga, 1 night Suva, 2 nights Port Vila, 3 nights Nadi, 2 nights Samoa.

In addition to my fear of couples and families, I'm not much of a beach guy either. So that doesn't help.

By the way, what are the loop bus and the hut bus?

I didn't take a pair of swim trunks. Was in it for the ocean view.

The loop bus is $1 FJD per trip aka leg. The hut bus is I think $7 with on/off privs. Enjoy the trip.

Late Checkout as Gold?

Our flight into NAN arrives at 5 AM and my flight home departs 11 PM. We're thinking of doing 1-2 nights in Denarau either at the beginning or end of our trip to Fiji.

What is the policy there for late checkout as Hilton Gold? Also, any suggestions on getting an upgrade?

Thanks,

FF

Any recent reports on this property? I have to go to Sydney for work in November, and my wife will likely join me in Sydney, and then we'll continue to Fiji. Would love to hear recent reports!

I stayed 3 nights at this property earlier this month and have included some details and a lot of pictures in a trip report here:

Fiji Beach Resort & Spa Managed by Hilton (Denarau, Viti Levu, Fiji) - Room and Grounds

Fiji Beach Resort & Spa Managed by Hilton (Denarau, Viti Levu, Fiji) - Dining

2 Days in Fiji

Understanding what Denarau is (an enclave of tourist hotels, a golf course, and touristy shops...and a port), I was very happy with the hotel and its staff and services. But, I'd definitely recommend taking a day trip (at least) out to a Mamanuca or Yasawa island.
