Hilton Innsbruck {AUT} (no longer Honors)
Has anyone tried this property yet?
1. Is it new or rebranded?
2. How close is it to the slopes?

I have not stayed in this property yet but it is a rebranded Holiday Inn. AFAIK, it is also one of those properties which had belonged to the Scandic group (like all those new Hiltons in Germany and the new London property which were all HI's) and which were exploited as HI's. Now, they belong to Hilton and they are being rebranded to the Hilton brand

Stayed there several times on ski trips and liked it.
Yes, it is rebranded.
Adjacent to Casino.
Two blocks from Railroad station.
On city side overlooks central INN, on other side looks to the Olympic ski jumping hill.
Not near to any slopes but pleasant driving distance to about 6 ski resorts.Somewhat longer driving to additional 12 ski resorts.
Great location in City and wonderful walking to everyplace.
Very small gym.

Thanks for the response. I was not planning on renting a car. Is one really needed? I read that there was a shuttle that has a stop at the Hilton and picks up in the early morning and late morning, and leaves the resorts around 4:30pm. Any experience with that?

Just returned from a 6 night GLON here. It was a nice hotel. It seems to be sold out every week during the winter season so no upgrade for me. I just had a basic room with 2 double beds. Their top floor is called an executive floor but I wasn't on it. I can't imagine the rooms are any different though. They had a HUGE spread for breakfast that I was given vouchers for. The hotel is adjacent to the casino, which has 2 gaming floors. The lower floor has slots and 1 blackjack table. The top floor required a jacket which I didn't have. I think it has more table games. The hotel is very convenient for the ski bus, as it stops and drops off right in front of the hotel. The hotel has a "ski room" to store your equipment but it wasn't locked so I just took my stuff up to my room. Not a big deal. There is a ski rental place about a minute walk where I got high performance equipment for 102 Euros for 6 days. All in all it was a decent stay.

Just got back from 2 nights there. Good sized rooms for a downtown hotel. I agree with the previous post regarding the great variety of the continental breakfast. Per one of the ladies who has worked in the restaurant for a long time, it was a Holiday Inn, then Scandic, and is under some renovations to meet Hilton standards. Did not use the casino (next door). It was at the base of the Tyrolean Mts., so it provided great views. On the outskirts of the downtown. Parking was 10.90 euros/day if you charged it to your room.

loomis - I have just booked a stay there for these exact dates next year. If you don't mind - how is the weather there this time of year? Is everything still winter sports only, or are there walks to do as well? thanks!!

We visited both Innsbruck and Salzburg. I don't think that they were still skiing. We did a walk through the mts. and there was still some snow on the tops of them. It is neat to see the streams that are created from the melt at this time of the year. I would say that the weather was low 60's for the few days that we were there.
