grantb welcome to FlyerTalk, thanks for posting, and send me an e-mail (yours is hidden) if you would.

the way i read that email, it could apply to any amex card holder, not just UK..
there are 2 offers on the one email, and within the 2nd offer about gold, there are two versions, one for new members and one for current members...

Does this mean in the UK that 4 stays @Hilton Bracknell at £34 per night - £146 in total gets you gold?

IS GOLD WORTH £146?

You have to get registered for this first. Three phone calls and two emails and I still don't know if I am.

Which is annoying as I had a period where 4 stays in 90 days was easy and am now entering one where it isn't.

I called HHonors in Glasgow this morning quoting SMGD and my Blue account is now showing as Silver.

I enrolled online from Germany with my green Amex card and had no problems.

After successful enrolement there was my new mebership number and incl. advise "silver membeship" on the screen.

Ok, now add the US and 50,000 points and make my day. http://www.flyertalk.com/forum/smile.gif

Has anyone from the US tried this? Will reward stays count as any of the 4 stays like they do for maintaining status? I've got a bunch of reward stays coming up and my gold will be going away...

I want to time my 90 day window appropriately...

I called in, one time for AAGU and the other time for Amex..
it sounds once I said I want to register promo code, the tone of the agent change drastically to somewhat impatient.

granted I do not have enough stay last year to remain Gold and want to use this "trick" to maintain Gold.. but it just sounds very unprofrssional in terms of customer service.

Sidetracking slightly:
I have HH Gold courtesy of my UK AXC card, how many nights/stays will I need before I reach Diamond?

28 stays, 60 nights or 100000 base points to qualify for Diamond.

Is this gonna work for me ? I am gold right now until 4/2004. I won't have enough stays to requalify. If I sign up now, will I keep my gold and get gold until 4/2005 if I complete 4 stays in 90 days ?
