Bump! Any recent experiences with this? Do you need to charge something to the room for a reward stay to credit?

Has anyone tried checking in online for a reward stay and not showing up?

No, no incidentals needed at all.

No-show stays do NOT count towards status; if anyone reports that, those are lucky breaks on their part.

Ok, on a related note: I've already made Silver status this year. If I have two rooms for one night (wife and kids traveling with me), I pay for one room while the other is free (using points), do I get credit for two stays and two nights as far as working towards Gold status is concerned?
