Dunno, but I think we need a thread listing individual-property foolishness ASAP so at least other FTers will know what's going on.

Can someone post the email they sent to HH so I can copy & modify it, then send my own?? Really want to send one but am swamped with work at the moment & would love a crib sheet

I just re-upped Diamond for this year, but my SPG card is coming out of storage ASAP.
+1, this is really bad - my hilton card is definitely going into storage, and starwood is going to see much more of me. Time to use my diamond status to do a status challenge I guess.

Rebooked the Hilton Barbados on a 262k Diamond VIP award Dec 24-31 on Oct 1st. Checked today, 66,466k points per night for the same dates! Checked into Jan, same values!!! "Premium"

Also had a system problem where they could not redeposit my canceled previous stay, had to call them because of a "system problem".

Adios Hilton, when I get my Skytrax survey you will get bad marks! I guess Diamond is useless now...

This devaluation is worse than SkyPesos. I am speechless. The question is where will it truly end? Will every big city have only 'premium rooms'. What happens with their entire brand (Embassy Suites) that doesn't have any 'standard' rooms?

"Premium Room" Very Large Devaluation: List Individual Properties Here

**EDIT** Apparently one of the mods thought this issue didn't need its own thread listing properties where the hijinx are going on, and merged my attempt into this thread. Just thought it might be nice to be able to pull that out from all the commentary. Whatever. Carry on. Guess I'll just leave this as-is.***

Folks, unfortunately Hilton has pulled a fast one with the rollout of this new "Premium Room" HHonors points booking they're claiming is going to be so great.

Long story short, many properties now only list premium rooms at hugely inflated rates (think 150,000 points per night) with no standard rates available at all.

Read here to get caught up:

http://www.flyertalk.com/forum/hilto...only-scam.html

Then list any hotel you find that's listing all the standard rooms as unavailable with only these exorbitant premium rates listed. Please also add what dates you tried, whether you called the hotel to ask questions, and any other relevant info. Right now the problem appears to be isolated to resort properties but is expected to metastasize.

(We're still trying to figure out what this is going to do to AXON and GLONP but it won't be pretty, I'm afraid.)

Oh, and - this is now official policy. From an email listed in the linked thread and received by FTer jasonvr:

With the new Reward offerings provided by HHonors, some of our hotels only offer Premium Rewards. Because rooms at some of our Resorts offer additional features or are not standard hotel rooms (i.e. bungalows) all room types for these hotels are now considered Premium Rooms and the point values will now reflect this new change.

All this cannot be true. There has to be a mistake or some serious IT problems.
I just tried to book the Conrad Maldives. If I am not logged in it shows availability of standard rooms for 50k/night on a 7 night stay.
If I log in for booking the VIP award it doesn´t go down to 37.5k but says no rooms available at all to book points for.
Now that is real crap. Can´t believe a company is running such idiotism.
And, if the before menioned devaluation is to come true, the HHonors program will be offline in months as there isn´t one gram of value for members at all!

There is no mistake. They are gradually tightening their fists. On Oct 4th I could have booked BoraBora 2 years out for an award room and a couple of days later it is gone. Two days ago I was able to book (well right up to the last step, right before committing the booking with miles) for Maldives and now that is no longer available. Two days ago I was able to book (upto the last step) on Los Cabo as well but now that is dead as well. I wish it was some kind of mistake.

There appears to be no "IF" in the devaluation. The letters from HHonors confirm that it is real.

WA Beach House

Looks like the WA beach house is a goner, standard king water villa is 130k/night.

I found the same problem: WA Maldives shows award stay for 80K points a night, but this award disappeared after I logged in. Something is weird here.

What am I doing differently? I just tried to book at the Hilton and Conrad in Maldives. Both showed some availability in the upcoming 3-4 months at 50k points a night 'standard' room. I would have been able to book when I logged in (if I wished/could get time off work).

For the WA Maldives, I can't get any award room to come up - even going 1 year out. No availability even tho the "standard" King Water Villas are available.

The issue, I suspect, is that they are changing to all "Premium" just like Bora Bora and Moorea.

I am getting a King Water Villa at WA Maldives in early Dec and Mid to late Jan (not over holidays) for 80k a night when looking at 6 nights. However when I checkin online it says rate not available like others have been getting.

When I am checked in and look no availability is coming up at WA Maldives.

I am getting 37,5k checked in at Hilton Maldives.

I think this devaluation will be complex and perhaps partially a glitch. May not be the end of the world.
