Hilton HHonors Properties in Istanbul

There ar three Hiltons/Conrad at Istanbul, Anyone stayued there and any comments?

The price will be an issue, but after I stayed the Vienna Plaza this weekend, I finally discovered the different between a "Nice" Hilton and an "Ordinary" Hilton.

Thanks!

Not a Hilton but the Swissotel is offering special weekend rates after a rather unfortunate incident a few weeks back.

USD175/nt including tax and buffet breakfast for a Bosporus Room.

Hilton HHonors Properties in Istanbul

Friends are going to Istanbul sometime in the spring and want to use Hilton points to stay in the Turkish city?

Which of the hiltons is closer to the major sites (Blue Mosque, the bridge that separates Europe and Asia, bazaars, etc?)

Some good rates also came up. Thanks for your assistance

there is only 1 hilton. not anything special, but in a shopping area. the conrad is on a hill in a quite area. i liked the conrad much more than the hilton. most of where you want to go is a cab ride and they are not expensive.

There is also the ParkSA Hilton which isn't too far from the other one.

IMHO, Everyone complains about the Conrad. It may have a bit of green around it, but it faces Barbaros Blvd, the busiest artery in Istanbul. Besides the service is pretty bad and it is overpriced. The Hilton has great views and is relatively central to Taksim, but not the historical areas you mentiones. The ParkSA is just inferior.

I therefore would suggest the Four Seasons which is right near the attractions you mention (although it has no pool). The Ciragan Palace (which has awesome views, a special location and has gone down a bit overe the years). The new 4 Seasons (roughly near the Hilton), The Hyatt (same area).

Best Bet however would be one of the special hotels run by the automobile club behind Aya Sofia.

hfly, can you please tell me more about "the special hotels run by the automobile club behind Aya Sofia"?

The organization is called TURING, or the Turkish Automobile Association. I will try to get you the specific names of their properties.

Last summer we stayed at the Ceylon Intercontinental. Bass properties are usually among the last on my list. But, the Ceylon was wonderful: the people, the decor, the atmosphere, the views, the location, etc. We just loved it.

Conrad Istanbul versus Hilton Istanbul

Some friends and I have a trip to Istanbul in January and I notice that Hilton have two properties there. Does anyone have a good or bad comment on either property?

Pakse Oct 6, 2002 5:57 pm

Howdy,

This should be taken with a salt shaker (not mearly a grain); 13 years ago the Hilton was quite nice. I spent some time in the city and loved it.

Keep the faith,

Pakse
