Arrow DISCUSSION for Hilton Honors Hotels in Australia {AUS}

I found 8 Hiltons located between 6 cities in Australia.

Does anyone know of any partner hotels that one can book with HHonors? I could not seem to locate any on the Hilton site.

Esp interested in Taz and Freo

ranles -- There are also two Conrad hotels: Brisbane and Gold Coast (unfortunately, with that new Hilton web site development, now you need to go to the Conrad hotels web site to see them..

Cheap Hilton rooms in Australia

Hi all

Having been signed up for the EWRDC promotion now I have a few questions that I hope someone can answer.

Hilton rooms are fairly pricey in Australia due to the high quality of accommodation here. Does anyone know where one can find deeply discounted Australian rooms that are eligible for miles and for this promotion? A really cheap booking engine perhaps. I have found www.wotif.com to be good but this doesn't feature Hilton rooms. I need a booking engine that is good for Australian Hiltons rather than Hiltons in other countries.

Perhaps someone can suggest another way of getting deeply discounted room - eg membership of this or that organisation?

cheers Peter

Ffhound - I have reservations at the Sydney (downtown) Hilton for about $100 USD a night and at the Adelaide Hilton for $75 a night. The price quotes on the Hilton site are in Australian dollars which is about 2-1. How much cheaper are you looking for?

Phew that is pricey.

Ideally I'd like to find some bargain rooms about $US50-60 if that is possible. Either that or half the rack rate but it must give miles & points and be eligible for the EWRDC promo.

cheers Peter

I got some rate that worked out to be $57/nt at the SYD Airport (a true dump) in May (when the AUD was at a low against the USD). I think the AUD rate was 109.

Hilton Brisbane versus Conrad Treasury Brisbane

I'm only staying in Brisbane one night in between flights and but will have a few hours to explore so don't want to be right at the airport. Is one of these better located for exploring? One considerably nicer than the other? Anyone have a preference?

letiole -- Keep in mind that Conrad Brisbane is a casino property owned and operated by Park Place Entertainment (they also run such casinos in Las Vegas as Flamingo, Paris, Bally's, etc.), thus all associated with a casino hotel advantages (lots of entertainment options, cheap drinks, etc.) and disadvantages (lots of traffic, noise, etc.)

The Conrad is located in an historic building in the heart of Brisbane. The rooms are very nice... including marble bathrooms with a separate shower. If my memory serves me the casino is in a different historic building across the street from the hotel.

Have not stayed at the Hilton so can not compare…

Both options are fine for exploring. I haven't stayed at the Hilton, but the Conrad shouldn't disappoint - especially if you like casinos. The building is magnificent. If you want to dine at an aussie icon, have dinner at the breakfast creek hotel (for a steak). More upscale, try Il Centro on the river (excellent bugs), or Pier 9 right beside. Don't forget to stroll through the botanic gardens, they're quite amazing, especially right at dusk when giant bats are flying around.

If you decide not to go Hilton, try the Hyatt (probably better quality - new), or even the Novotel is decent.

Thanks for the info - looks like I'll go for the Conrad.

Just curious Scoop as I've only tried the bugs that fly in my mouth when I'm silly enough to open it while bike riding - and I can't say that I've taken the time to savor those - just which types do you prefer and how do you like them prepared? I am a vegetarian but when someone tells me there are excellent bugs on the menu, I may just have to decide this lower life form is OK to consume.
