Hope I didn't cause any confusion. When I said about "we're not a hilton" that was just something both the Brisbane and Gold Coast Conrads say sometimes when they don't want to give an upgrade, not a claim that they are no longer in the program.

The OP did say June/July - looking at the very short notice the Fontainbleau gave, this timeframe is very doable.

Conrad Bne

Hi guys,
As per my first post, this is something I heard secondhand, but I tend to believe my source as he is a local Barrister and not prone to "Bull doo doo".

I will wander over there in the morning and ask the question of the reception staff. My wife also uses Conrad BNE for her comapny meetings and we have always made plenty of points through this.

I will often stay at Jupiters on the Gold Coast for a night and have always been pushed to the Exec floors without any query. This is often at a cheap rate as well. ( www.wotif.com )
I have had better luck at upgrades etc from BNE Conrad than from the Hilton....

Your inquiry will be much appreciated, IainF!

I've recently been demoted to HHonors Gold, but am still hoping for an upgrade. Guess it won't happen if the hotel isn't even in the HHonors system anymore.... or maybe it still will be in early June....

I spoke with a family member last night who works alongside Conrad BNE and she confirmed this is true.

She couldn't give me an exact date as she is not involved in that side of the business.

For her to tell me that gives me no doubt - if anyone would know she would.

conrad brisbane taken over by tabcorp

I last stayed at the Conrad Teasury in February. The staff there readily acknowledge that the property has been taken over by TAB CORP.....The Australian GamBling body.

However, when pressed further, i was told that the Conrad Treasury will still retain the Hilton Link Through HHonors....

Its definately news if Conrad Treausry and Conrad Jupiters decides to break off the US Hilton chain....

As widely know, the Hilton Family is basically structured such that there could be said to be 2 companies operating under 1 brand. Hilton Corporation(USA) that controls and maintains Hilton USA and Conrads outside the USA. Hilton International(UK) manages Hiltons outside the USA as well as Double tree inside USA(I think)....

My understanding is that Brisbane Hilton and Brisbane Conrad are the two nearest Hilton hotels in the world - literally some 500m. Anyone care to confirm this or suggest any two that are closer?

The Hilton London (Park Lane) and the Hilton London Mews are closer to each other than that, I'm sure. Right across the alley from each other. :-:

Also, the Doubletree Times Square and the Hilton Times Square are about the same distance apart as the Brisbane hotels (500 m); not sure whether they beat the Brisbane hotels or not.

ah yes, always enjoy staying at the hilton bris and walking up to the conrad bris on a mattress run, did it 2 months ago, and considering it in July again but i think i'll just stick it out at the hilton bris.

the rooms at the conrad are great, service is mediocre, as is recognition of hhonors status and crediting of points, miles. i too have had the remark "we aren't part of the hhonors program" staff have little or no knowledge, but some do.... room types are wide and varied, i really enjoyed my last room which was on the top floor, had an outdoor balcony on the roof and a huge room and bathroom. Toiletries are also different - they use some brand with aloe vera in it. Amenity as a gold is typically 2 bottles of water and the business card of one of the managers.

there is a reasonable priced buffet in the casino and you can earn HHonors points there.

2 hhonors properties nearby? sure i can think of plenty, but not as close as the bris conrad and bris hilton...

all a short walk from each other...

times square new york - doubletree, hilton NY, times square hilton.
london - hilton london olympia, hilton kensington
when they were part of hhonors - the closest in the world (they're interconnected) ballys and paris las vegas.

b/fast

Now the Conrad bris would be my choice always and be a popular one compared to other hhonors properties in australia, except that the hilton bris is just so top notch. Their hot breakfast (scrambled eggs, salmon, sausages, bacon, etc) in the lounge in the morning and the views and service are 2nd to none (except the conrad bangkok). now as a hh gold, you get free breakfast in the conrad bris hotel restaurant which is superb, but when you match it with the great breakfast at the hilton bris, i would stay with the hilton bris. Also the amenities at the hilton bris i get as a gold at the hilton bris are superb, usually a bottle of wine (full size, occassionally a bottle of bubbly), 2 bottles of water, 2 apples, box of belgian choclates, hand signed card from mr bossard - gm hilton bris and a welcome letter from him upon checkin. the conceirge, bellhop, doorman team at the hilton bris are also knowledgeable, friendly and always helpful.

For meetings - hilton bris are really bad when it comes to crediting your points for meetings there. So the conrad sounds like a good idea, pity they're leaving the program. Do consider the hilton bris though - they have a superb new meetings and conference area - 1 level below the lobby. Complete with plasma screens on the front of each room. Highly recommended.

Stayed at the Conrad in March this year and was awarded full HH points. Got the room upgrade when they realised I was HH Gold. Rooms and overall service were excellent. Options for restaurant meals weren't as good as the Brisbane Hilton. Chose the Conrad as the Brisbane Hilton had a higher room rate at the time.

Made a reservation enquiry via the Hilton Honors website and the Brisbane Conrad Treasury is still listed there, and available for normal booking. The Conrad is also available for award stays.
