Likely a seasonal/festive version. We stayed in early February and had the standard yellow version.

The location is excellent. Most of the other major chain properties, the location is an issue (except for JW, which is in same complex). Plus the rooms are large and quiet, and they let you have breakfast in the restaurant. On a relative basis, the Conrad still scores lots of points vs. the competition.

I agree. And i don't mind the "dated" look of the hotel. In fact I like it. But the biggest selling point for me is that with regular stays there I have built up relationships (albeit superficial and based on me being a customer) with the staff. This adds to the feeling of being a valued client. Of course, the same thing could happen at other hotels but often doesn't.
We have also made it a tradition to visit during our anniversary for a few years in a row, and they have treated us exceptionally well, both with upgrades, champagne welcome in the room, and with our table for the Sunday Brunch.

Did up a review of Conrad Hong Kong based on my stay last Christmas (late, I know).
Short version: I really liked the location and the lounge, but find the ageing state of the property to be rather off-putting. All in all, found it way too expensive for what you get...
I know lots of ppl really seem to like it, though. What makes it worth the cost? Is it just relative to what else you can get in Hong Kong?
Also - haven't seen anyone share about this decidedly un-yellow duck I received in the bathroom. Anyone knows if it's permanently replaced the old yellow one? Or is it perhaps a festive version?
Can confirm. This was my 'harbour view'...

Having stayed in few different Conrads in Asia, the staff at Conrad HKG are the most flexible and down-to-earth.
They don't try to nickel-and-dime you for extras.
Although the lounge food is somewhat mediocre, I love the staff and there's always seat available.
I don't get the sense that the hotel is outdated. I think everything is maintained very well.
As for the duck, yours looks really cool. When we last stayed, that was right before your stay (we stayed in late Nov) and it was still the yellow one. Yours looks like the one from Macao. I hope that's a new permanent one.
Let's face it... harbour view from HKG side is never going to be great. Yeah if it's sort of distracting to have Shangri-la right in front (a room to the right of EL would help, as someone else said). But then it seems like you got to enjoy both views of the harbour and the Peak.

Definitely part of the Festive/Christmas season. Got one similar around the previous Calendar New Years, and back to yellow ducks in mid-Feb.

The Conrad Hong Kong is one of my favorite hotels in the world. But of course it isn't 100% perfect.

I’ve stayed at Conrad several times including few days before Xmas (but never like Xmas, Xmas eve, NYE, CNY). I’ve only had a couple occasions where I was not able to get a seat right away. And those times you just wait a short while, never more than 10min, and the staff keeps an eye on things and will come and get you when a table becomes ready. And if you’re only able to get an inner table and later on when a Window side table becomes available and the staff knows that you like to be window side, then they will even facilitate relocating you. When I said there’s always a table available, i was basically saying you Generally do not have to worry about not being able to use the lounge because it’s full. On the other hand, the last couple times I’ve stayed at Conrad Tokyo, the EL is a zoo and you will not get a table if you show up at 6pm.

I am arriving later this week on an award stay - am hopeful to get a harbor view room. Do you all just ask at checkin if anything is available here or has anyone had any luck with calling in advance?
Ill be happy regardless - what a great use of award certificate and got 2 nights @64K points each. Harbor view would be ideal so just wondering if there is anything other than random luck at play?

From there, if no love shown, ask to be checked in at the lounge upstairs instead of the downstairs lobby. Someone will escort you up the elevator and get you to the lounge, where you can ask as well.
(Not to say say you can't ask downstairs, of course.)
TDM
ps: this also gives an extra opportunity to snag some of the the watermelon juice at the lounge upon check in. They have little glass bottles of it in the refrigerators above the snack area to the left/behind the lounge check in desk.

You can email the hotel in advance and ask about paying a surcharge to guarantee a harbor view room or a suite (which has both harbor and peak views). I've done this in the past when I wanted to be sure to get a suite. Since the room itself is on points, I don't mind paying a surcharge for a guaranteed upgrade to an ideal room.

Here is one of the few complaints I have with the hotel. The elevator traffic is ridiculous when the hotel is busy. One of the reasons I think is the traffic from L3 (mall) to floor 8 (offices), On one stay they had an art expo with 2 elevators reserved and there was sometimes a 15 minute wait.
I complained and was have satisifed with their response.
I would certainly mention it to the hotel staff.

Tomorrow is a public holiday and apparently the mainland Chinese visit a lot at this time but the hotel doesn't appear too crowded. Access to the lounge was easy tonight. And, by the way, I thought the food offerings tonight were very good and substantially better than on past stays. The usual friendly and helpful atmosphere prevailed. I may have just been lucky with the food.

Lounge is great - we were not terribly hungry but lounge was easily enough to make for a light dinner when we just wanted to go to sleep.
Pool is beautiful - but weirdly right next to a restaurant seating area.
