Just saw this thread after staying at the Universidad location 2 nights ago. My quick synopsis:

-The hotel is an older Hampton and the rooms aren't nearly as bright as I'd like them to be
-Amenities are pretty poor (rough towels, no conditioner) and both my sink and shower were leaky & the toilet was VERY slow to flush.
-Breakfast is typical Hampton
-There is a restaurant in their parking lot that wasn't too bad (forget the name)
-Next door (a safe walk for me, even at night) is a shopping center with a large supermarket, a few banks, etc.
-Rate was ~70 USD per night (a coworker booked it, so I'm no sure if we were on a corporate rate or not).
-Lots of US folks in the breakfast area (well, they looked the part and spoke very good English, so I'm assuming)

No major issues, but if it were the US, I'd probably drive 20+ mins to find another suitable location b/c of the rooms.

I would follow up with HHonors about your missing stay credits.
I did and I now have the point/stay credit. That turned out to be stay #12 so it was a big one (3rd free night certificate). Thanks!

Just completed a stay at the Galerias property once again. 15k / night point stretcher.
Great security in the parking lot now. Staff members outside 24/7 constantly checking license plates as well. There is a casino next store called "Caliente"..forgot to mention this earlier. Also, this property is adjacent to the Real Plaza. Many restaurants/stores/banks are easily walkable. Rooms have been updated. Lobby as well.
Good cable package on the TV, with multiple English speaking channels.
Taxis always around and easy to hail.
All in all, a nice stay once again at this property

From the Links thread at the top of the forum:
LINKS for Hilton Honors Hotels in Mexico (country) {MEX}

Also on the search page at Hilton.com, type in Mexico, pick a date in the future, and hit return. Search returns 64 properties(HGI, Hampton, Homewood,Hilton, Curio, DT, Conrad) in Mexico.
