Arrow Hampton Inn by Hilton Vancouver-Airport/Richmond {CAN}

Have anyone stayed at either Hampton at YVR?

Any comments?

Hampton YVR Airport is quoting me $79 a night and I am planning to use that as 1 of my 4 stays...

I stayed at the Hampton Inn YVR (Richmond, BC) just last month. Brand new rooms with contemporary maple furniture. I'd suggest a room on the side away from the road if possible. Free parking, breakfast was average and they have a business center (oops, in Canada it's "centre") with free internet access.

I'd stay there again if the need arises.

I put up a potential employee at the downtown location. New hotel, nice rooms. They were very good about upgrading him. Good location, close to GM place if you want to catch a hockey or basketball game. Shark Club (bar) is a 25-35 croud, and only one block up the street. Would recommend it.

I have never stayed at the property, but I would have to second Village Idiot's commment about the Shark Club. This is an awesome sports bar. Probably the best place to watch I game I have ever seen. Great food and even better service (i.e. the beautiful women).

I stayed there and was NOT impressed. In no way was anything new. It appeared a little worn. Good advice regarding the noise. I went down and changed my room to face away from the busy main street (and directly into another building). Also itsa tacky neighborhood, and the hotel gets a lotta tour groups.

Do yourself a big favor and stay at the YVR Hilton Airport. Easily worth a $20-40 more. Lovely, new building, many suites and fantastic restaurant with FREE breakfast and the Sunday brunch is outta this world. Friendly Irish bar 2-3 blocks away. They upgrade Gold and Diamonds to suites. Unfortunately no lounge.

Thanks for the comments...

MisterNice: I know that Hilton Airport is very nice... this is what I am doing..

Feb 19: Hilton YVR Airport
Feb 20: ?
Feb 21: Hilton YVR Airport

Using stopover rate of $89 CDN for the 2 Hilton YVR Airport stay. I am just trying to figure out Feb 20. YVR Metrotown is close to sold out so rates are $159/night. Any suggestions? Downtown Hampton is quoting $109, Airport Hampton is quoting $79.

You might want to try changing around the dates. The Hampton YVR was showing a C$59 rate a few weeks ago.

Empress-

I must confess I did exactly that one time and thatsa why I ended up at the YVR Hampton Inn. I would book the Hampton Inn and keep checking on the nice Hilton Metrotown pricing. Do it by calling direct and the "800" and the web. Each actually can have different pricing/availability at the same time.

MisterNice

ps: and go to the nearby cannery museum and eat a great meal at one of the close-by restaurants (Dave's?)

I am currently staying at the Hampton Inn YVR and I am very satisfied... especially the free local calls. They upgraded me to a King Study Room without asking and got a call from them to make sure that everything is alright after I settled in. Got a room away from the road. However, I must say that the area around the hotel is a bit quiet with not much restaurants around.

Recent 1 night stay.

Hotel is less than 5 minutes from YVR on the main road from the airport.

No problem checking in around 1pm - Good Diamond recognition, received water and cookies - no mention of an upgrade, but was given a corner room at the back of the building (away from the busy main road) with a partial view of the airport. Room was spacious and in good condition.

There was limited parking in the hotel grounds and a further fenced lot on some ground at the back of the building.

Breakfast was standard HI fare in the lobby area - there was a notice stating that the lobby area is getting upgraded in the near future.

There were several chain and local restaurants / fast foods nearby as well as some shops and a CostCo.

Overall, a good value older style HI with very good service.

I recently stayed here. It's your basic Hampton Inn. Staff is helpful especially breakfast guy who was good at putting out food. my only complaint was housekeeping who missed my room for some reason the first day.

Parking can be difficult, limited spaces. They have all day coffee/tea, sometimes apples. Wifi not that strong.

Starbucks is across the street and River Rock casino is very close.

Yes it is still an ok place to stay. Neighborhood leaves something to be desired if you want to grab food etc. but if not needed or you can do with the limited selection, you will be fine. Fairly easy walk from Bridgeport Skytrain station (though I wouldn't do that with other than a rollerboard)--also close to airport for a relatively cheap cab ride.
