Their fall and winter 2016 award seem only has "premium award" at this time & prob not good use of hhonor points.
One of their rates is "Government" rate; did anyone have used this rate at Hilton Sydney recently? Is the rate applicable to all worldwide government employee?

Hilton v Four Seasons
I have a stay booked at Four Seasons for $375 with virtuoso benefits. I have been keeping an eye on Hilton rates as I'm diamond and when I can like to stay loyal. The rate for the Hilton is $292. What would you suggest? Its a one night stay, but will be checking in very early after redeye from Perth. Thanks very much.

Is Sydney Hilton playing games?
I'm an occasional stayer at this hotel. I want to use some of my HH points for a future stay. In the period I wanted there is no availability at anything approaching standard points because there appear to be no Hilton Guestrooms available. Indeed, on further investigation I can find no standard rooms on any date up to 12 months out. (I admit I could have missed the odd night).
I understand this to be because they have many airline crew staying here and I guess they are on long term contracts. There are plenty of nights with Hilton Guestroom Plus available and there are the occasional night where the Plus room is available at reasonable points but only in the immediate future.
As there is virtually no real difference between a standard room and a Plus room and in most hotels the differences would not justify a different rate classification, is not Sydney Hilton gaming the system so that there are virtually no rooms available ever at standard points? I should add I know I'm not the first to raise this issue but I am still annoyed.

I stopped staying completely.I will never return
Hilton corporate is well aware of their antics and does nothing to make the hotel compliant for program members
Its also a below average property compared to others charging premium to excessive rates
Die hard HH members flock to it as there are no other choices

They have been manipulating inventory for standard rooms for some years now as well as so called premium rooms for 200k a night

I have done the same thing. I have stayed at this property a lot over the past 2 years including 2 rooms for 5 nights over NYE and will no longer stay there. The rates they charge are crazy, the service is terrible so I now do AMEX FHR and stay at Shangri-La for less and don't even worry about the points. Much nicer experience $100 food and beverage credit.

Good decision. While I have stayed at the Shan' site a few times and enjoyed the experience, my preference, when in SYD, is the Sheraton on the Park --closer to the SYD CBD and other areas I need to travel. For me, the SYD Hilton is the hotel of last resort... and that's as an HH Dia status member!

I couldn't decide on where to stay on a recent trip so I flittered between this property, Sheraton on the Park and the Intercontinental in March and mattress-hopped based on the cheapest night rate.
The gym at the Sheraton is decent and usually quiet, the rooms are large and you will always get a 4pm check-out if Gold. I also like the proximity to the CBD and Oxford Street/Surry Hills.
As an IC Ambassador I enjoyed the harbour-view room upgrade, gym and amenities, though the rooms were not as large or modern as the Sheraton or the Hilton. And whilst the harbour views and proximity to Circular Quay and the botanical gardens were great, it was slightly more of a schlep to get to the area I was generally socialising in (Darlinghurst/Potts Point/Surry Hills).
I was a bit wary of the Hilton after reading through this thread, but after snagging a base room for a couple of nights over a weekend for less than £100 per night I decided to give it a run. As a Diamond I was upgraded to a Deluxe Plus Room on a high floor and received lounge access and the option to dine in the Glass Brassiere as well as late check-out. As a solo traveller I didn't have an issue with the size of the room, though I wasn't travelling with much luggage and didn't spend much time there (though I was forced to spend a day working from the exec lounge which was great because it was completely empty).
I would gladly stay at this property again. There are things I like and dislike about each of the IC, Sheraton and Hilton - though for £100 a night I thought it was great value given the benefits I was afforded as Diamond.

This property can be had for AUD 169/night with the Gold Medal rate - approx GBP 85. Typically, this rate or close to it is available on Fridays and Sundays, especially when booking less than 1 week before the stay. Other days of the week tend to be 1.5x or more in price.

Nothing cosmic about it (sadly) - as noted above - the hotel seems to play with its rates on a regular basis and they can drop significantly in the week leading up to your arrival. In my case, I cancelled a Sunday-Monday-Tuesday points stay and booked a cash rate 72hrs out from arrival when I saw the cash rate plummet.

Dynamic or Dynamite Pricing?
The sensors on anything consumable that moves is just irritating. A line of three waters and two bottles of wine outside the fridge by the desk have sensors. I picked up the middle water noticing the other two had price lablels. I put it back not noticing the sensor warning - wondering why I was only getting one bottle not my Diamond "ration" of 2. I returned 4 hours later to find two smaller bottles of the same brand placed in the middle of the desk.
As others have said the room (mine Deluxe) is small and bathroom layout is strange verging on dangerous with a glass shower cubicle without safety markings almost on top of the toilet. The desk chair is almost impossible to sit on without careful positioning because it is too tight to the bathroom wall - and I'm slim.
OK....at the price I eventually paid!!!
