Everyone Checking Out
 

Was it only me who noticed the number of people checking out this morning or is it only me :)

As a result of the Q1 promo I had to check-out and move to another hotel for tonight...

I only noticed a few more people than usual carrying stuff to the car. But I did notice that there were 5 employees at the front desk when I checked out. At this particular hotel there are usually between 0 and 1 (inclusive).

It is Thursday, you know?

That was my first thought. Big wave of checkins on Monday evening, big wave out on Thursday morning. Regular business travelers...

People still check out at the front desk?

I know I'm typically on a travel schedule of Monday thru Thursday. Sometimes Sunday thru Thursday if I'm looking to get that 4th night for the promo.

Most of my clients do not really want me around Fridays, so I tend to bail Thursday or Friday - but I normally use the "folio under the door" and Express Checkout rather than the desk queues.

Good point. I wonder if something was wrong at the hotel if a bunch of people physically needed to visit the front desk at checkout.

I only threw out Mon-Thurs since those are the typical business travel days and probably the most common in/out days at the standard city or suburban Hilton/Marriott/Starwood/whatever. I doubt the March 31st date significantly contributed to unusual check-out activity.

If Hilton had historical data showing this to be true, I'm convinced they'd make the promo end one day later since it's certainly not in their interest for you to hotel-hop unnecessarily.

Could it be because their status is ending and they want to make sure the stay credits with their old VIP bonus? :)

You didn't have to check-out. Points were credited with Q1 bonus for stays started in March and April check-outs.

Agreed. I checked out on April 1, and the Q1 bonus points posted fine.

Yup.. I had a 3/27 checkin last week with a 4/1 checkout and I got the full quad bonus points for all 5 nights.

Same here. Checked out on the 2nd and got the full 6 night credit. As a bonus, got the Diamond 50% credit even though I'm *supposed* to fall to Silver 4/1. Site still showing me Diamond so I'm hopefull it'll hold, but the Silver card I got in the mail tells me to not hold my breath.

So, 81k points for a 6 night stay, not bad. You think I should call in and ask why I didn't get my 1000 point per night Q2 bonus? :D
