Lost Diamond Status

I am about to lose my diamond status on the 1st of april. I missed it by like 5,000. Does anyone know a way that I can maybe keep it?

Are you counting Hilton spent or using the Hilton AMEX to qualify???

You must be a big spender to rack up 95000 base points and not have had either 60 nights or 28 stays in the last year. You might check to see if you had either 60 nights or 28 stays. If so, you didn't lose diamond.

If you really didn't requalify, you could always ask nicely. But that probably won't work. I stay 2 nights a week and so I tend to break them up and stay at two different hotels. That didn't benefit me this quarter but I'm well over halfway to diamond requal. That may be your fastest option.

But, really, other than some extra bonus points there aren't any huge everyday differences between gold and diamond. Some will argue about the Diamond "force" but most of us won't use it every week.

I am losing my Diamond March 31 as well. Did you get a snail mail offer to stay 5 stays, or 15 nights to get Diamond back quicker? I did.

Of course, I already have just over 60K base points, so I am back to Gold, and will have Diamond by June 15, at this rate. Oddly enough, the offer, and actual stays will almost perfectly coincide to get Diamond by either the standard (100k points) method or the snail mail offer.

You may just have to earn it again.

I just re-read it. 15 nights is what it says. Not sure where I got 5 stays. I know I will meet the 15 nights in my next 4 stays.

Sorry about that.

I got a promo with my new "Gold" card too. Though...look at the fine print under the card...there is a time limit. I think mine was something to the sorts of 7 stays or 15 nights between April 1 and May 31st or something. I don't have it in front of me, but it was only 2-3 month timeframe to stay those nights.

edit - and if I remember correctly, it only gives you status for this year...you need to qualify for Diamond if you want it next year. I may have mis-read it though

It is really easy to rack up lots of base points and few nights and points. I have been Diamond for 8 years now and have always qualified based on base points but in only one of those years would I have qualified on nights and stays too.

They seem to be a bit mean with giving flexibility to those of us who qualify based on spend each year. Whilst I have heard of people who have less than 50% of the nights/stays required being comped Diamond for another year those with far narrower misses on base point earning have been snubbed. I was on course to lose Diamond this year (reduced travel last year due to ash cloud problems) until after my stay at the Conrad Maldives.

It does seem like you get more respect at renewal from Hilton if you typically qualify based on stays or nights.

I would disagree. I missed Diamond by 2 stays this year. I called 3 times to try to get "comped" back to Diamond...they refused every time.

I personally wish they would stop comping people status, and not just Hilton, all the hotel and airline chains.
