Waikoloa Village

We just got an offer for a Waikoloa area Hilton for $1100 including a 6 day-5 night stay, $200 spend a night on us voucher, 6 day rental car, 15K Honors points, and a 3 or 4 night Royal Caribbean cruise certificate. All together not a bad deal. Now we need to figure out which of the hotels we want to stay at.

Recently completed a package in Orlando for 4-days/3-nights at the $99 rate which I was offered about a year ago. I was confirmed at the Hilton Lake Buena Vista during a prime spring break week, but I did have to wait a while to do so because this particular hotel didn't open up dates as far out as some of the other Orlando offerings.

Although I was dreading the presentation, several unexpected good things came to pass: 1- The reservation showed up on my Hilton Honors account, so I was able to link the confirmation number to the My Disney Experience app and choose fastpasses 60 days out. 2- The hotel honored my Diamond benefits so we received free breakfast during our stay. 3- The HGV package covered the hotel's resort fees, so that saved me $90. The presentation itself was low pressure, and we left right at the 2 hour mark and claimed our $200 Spend a Night on Us voucher.

I was offered this late last year. I opted for Las Vegas (first trip), and this was my agreement:

$199+tax for 4 days, 3 nights at the Elara [I was offered an upgrade to a suite for about $50/night, but declined]
5500 points (of which, 5000 are earned after the presentation, and 500 were for listening to the sales pitch on the phone)
$200 cash back after the presentation (which negates the hotel price, but I am not sure whether this is something that is mailed to me as a check, or literal cash)
$200 stay a night on us voucher (apparently, this will only be good for 6 months at a predesignated hilton property of my choosing, which is unfortunate since you cannot stack multiple nights at a cheaper Hilton, and you only have 6 months to use it).

On the actual email, it reads: 4 day / 3 night stay in studio accommodations at a Hilton Grand Vacations Club resort. PLUS $199 Cash back after tour and $200 Spend a Night on Us certificate.

I am planning on visiting some casinos and getting a rental car to drive out to one of the national parks to take a look.

So the only difference between what was discussed on the phone and the email is the 5500 points, but I don't think I've have issues getting that.

My other options were Hawaii, Florida, and one other place that I can't recall (besides LV). I ended up picking LV because my hotel stay would have been entirely free and I also have not been there before.

I'm hoping for more of these opportunities, and would definitely take them up on Hawaii if offered again.

This is not something I had considered. Are the resort fees separate from the actual booking price? As in, you were quoted the $99 price, and then you had to pay another $90 on top of it at the hotel?

Is this true at all hotels or because you were at the Disneyland location? Do you think I would need to pay this at Las Vegas?

Typically, if the hotel has resort fees, they tack them on to whatever paid rate you had at checkout. Since the package included a choice among some of the other hotel options in Orlando that didn’t charge resort fees, I chose the Hilton LBV fully expecting to pay the $30/night resort fee. Fortunately, I was wrong.

I don’t know enough to say that it will be the same case in Las Vegas.

Not sure about other locations / properties, but Elara in Las Vegas has no resort fees on these HVG promo stays.
Got a similar package few months back and there was no charge whatsoever.

I got a similar offer. I didn't want to make a decision on the phone without reseraching the exact location. Curious if you had a good experience with this promotion and what were the hidden gotchas. Usually they transfer us to the timeshare call every time I call to redeem a free night certificate. If this is a good deal then it might make sense to make a dummy reservation to book this deal.

Hey, we were recently offered $199 for 3days/4nights at a choice of Orlando or Vegas at participating hotels within the Hilton portfolio of brands (valued up to $169/night), with 15k points.
It will be nice to go to Orlando for a short break, but I guess my question is, are there any limitations to what hotels you can choose? Say you can only pick Hilton brands for your stay? Or can we book the WA Orlando. That property has been on our wish list for a while now, and if staying at the WA for 3 nights at $199, that would be an exceptionable deal for us!

Another question too, since you picked the Hilton @ LBV, how did they schedule you for the timeshare presentation? Was it done in the hotel you stayed? Or they had to provide you transportation to a nearby Vacation Club to attend the pitch?

I'm guessing you both mean 4 days/3 nights. I would ask what the participating hotels are and look at some reviews of those if you're not familiar with some. When I did this type of offer on the Big Island I paid extra to stay at Kings Land as I didn't want to stay at Waikoloa. I would be shocked if they are offering you the WA, but you might be able to pay up for properties not on the list, but obviously that makes the deal less attractive. Outside of a timeshare offer, I have found some really attractive rates at HGVC Tuscany in Orlando if you have some flexibilty about when you go to Orlando. Good luck!

Opps, sorry. Type too fast. lol. The T&C seems very vague. So I was hoping for someone who has had experience redeeming from other properties in Orlando other than those Hilton Grand properties.
Thanks for your input though.

So I was offered one of these whilst making a phone booking for a normal stay last week. They said they would transfer me to the correct department for the grand vacations promotion after we finished making the booking. Unfortunately I had to hang up whilst on hold in order to answer another call.

Does anybody know if I can just phone back and ask about this again? I've never received any email / postal offer or similar - only on the phone that one time...

Yes, I was given a list of hotels that I could choose from. Here's a list that one of their agents sent to me:

STANDARD ACCOMMODATIONS FOR 4:
Double Tree Universal
Hilton Garden Inn Lake Buena Vista
Hilton Orlando
Hampton Inn-International Drive Convention Center
Home2 Suites

UPGRADED ACCOMMODATIONS:
HGVC Parc Soleil
HGVC Sea World
HGVC "Tuscany" International Drive
Double Tree Guest Suites Lake Buena Vista
Embassy Suites Lake Buena Vista
Homewood Suites on International Drive/Convention Center
Homewood Suites Lake Buena Vista
HGVC Las Palmeras

The hotels on the upgraded list had an additional charge, most of them offering a 1-BR suite. Even still, this was not comprehensive as I was able to call back at a later time and requested the Hilton LBV. I think it may have had to do with availability at the time they emailed me. The Hilton LBV did not offer rooms toward this package until closer to 3-4 months out. However, the WA was definitely not part of their list, nor was the Hilton Bonnet Creek (which would have been my preferred hotel).

The presentation was held at the Parc Soleil. I imagine most presentations are at any of their HGVC hotels. I don't think they provide transportation. I had rented a car, so I was able to get there with no problem.

You can call the Hilton reservations line again for any reason, and you'll most likely get the option to hear about another offer.

Just confirming, but they don't do any offers in Maui, right? I checked the website and they have nothing there under Destinations, but there is a regular Hilton there (I know it's two different companies).
