Base Point Question
Checked my account today and have just over 100,000 base points so shoudl qualify for Diamond, called HH and they said that there are some base points showing from last year. I checked the HH activity and there are some points posted to the account on 1/1/10 for stay last couple of days in Dec but surely since they posted to the account in Jan (albiet the 1st day of the year) they count.
Can anyone clarify/comment Thanks |
The check out date matters, not when the points post. If you checked out in 2009 for those base points, they will count for last year even if they did not go into your account till this year.
Hilton is right in telling you they do not count for your status this year. |
Cordelli is correct. You can't really predict when points will post, so checkout date is really on the only fair way for a hotel program to handle this.
Your frequent flyer miles count on the date of the flight, not the date when they actually post. |
However, since you were that close to re-qual - it may be worth a phone call to HH DSS to see if they can make an exception. It has, albeit, rarely, been known to happen.

Hilton HHonors Terms and Conditions say:
Diamond Elite Membership
To Qualify Hilton HHonors Diamond Elite Membership will be awarded to Members with 28 stays*, 60 nights* or 100,000 Base points earned during any calendar year. A "night" is a night that is part of a "stay," as that term is defined herein. Base points earned will count toward Diamond Elite tier qualification. Bonus points earned on Base points do not count toward Elite tier qualification. <link> (My emphasis.) |
