Diamond Requalification Question…

Good morning all, I figured I would selfishly start my very first post on FT with a question…shocker!

In any event, here goes; I just qualified HH Diamond this morning and am wondering when my next stays/nights start helping me re-qualify for next year.

Also, since I qualified today, does that mean 12 months from the end of this month is when my Diamond status ends?

My thanks in advance,

AF

1) Anything more than the required amount of nights/stays is not carried over, the counter resets on 1/1.

2) Your Diamond status will end in 03/12

Status is from the day you earn it until all of the following

  • The remainder of the year you earn it
  • the entire year following the year you earn it
  • January and February (and maybe March, not sure) of the year after that

So anybody who earns Status anytime in 2010, be it January 2 or December 31, will have that status until March of 2012

Status has to be earned every year, on January 1 your status count resets to zero and you need to meet the requirements.

Because of the way Hilton does it, it's is possible to maintain status by not staying with them at all in a given year, if you can requalify in January and February of the following year if you want to concentrate on another program, before your current status expires.

Oh, the good old days of RT. And the RT thread kept me ever so entertained.

It would be nice if they carried over nights/stays. I don't know of any hotel that does that though. That is one thing Delta added to skymiles that I like, carrying over MQM miles. But I guess HIlton has so many DM members right now they dn't need to make it even easier for more people to get the status.

Were you not around when it was a rolling tier qualification :D? They had to drop it because people could not handle it. It was fascinating to watch here and on other boards how confused people would get.

I loved it and hated it when they dropped it, but I bet it saved probably half their customer service calls.

Marriott has Roll-Over nights in their program. All nights beyond your current/highest status roll over to the following year. So a Plat with 150 nights this year keeps status through the next two years, even without another stay.

They added this last year as a promo and have extended it to this year. Hopefully they will make it a permanent benefit of the program.

Wow. I'd love it if Hilton did this. With the stays I have planned over the next 12 months I could be requalified into 2015.

An interesting thing to think about is what kind of travelers would benefit the most with roll-over vs RT.

The only thing I couldn't figure out was why anyone was confused about it.

yep, loved RT. I also can't figure out why ppl had so much difficulty understanding it. What's so hard about figuring out your stays/nights #'s in the last 12 months?

where were all you RT fans back in the day?! man, the thought of those threads makes me break out in a cold sweat.

It was amazing how dumbfounded certain people were by rollover, as it was quite useful for me.
