Should I use Zip-In Check-In?

When making an online reservation, I'm presented with a "Zip-In Check-In" option.

Check here to request Zip-In Check-InŽ and you'll be on your way to your room within 30-seconds from the time you arrive at the front desk! To Zip-In, you must use the same credit card this reservation has been guaranteed with for payment at the hotel.
Assuming I'm not changing the method of payment, why would I want to (or not want to) elect this? What effect does it have on Gold/Diamond upgrades (if any)?

There seems to have been very little previous discussion on this.

The time savings seems to be what it takes them to get an imprint of the credit card you are using to get the room. The rest of it, keys all set, paperwork all filled out, etc is the same, instead of giving them the card to make an imprint or swipe for the guarantee, it's already done. You can still ask for an upgrade if you wish, don't see that as an issue.

Zip-In Check-In: Helps/Hurts Upgrade Chances?

Does using "Zip-In Check-In" help or hurt a Gold members' chance for an upgrade?

As I understand it, all Zip-In Check-In does is confirm that everything you charge to the room, including incidental charges, will be put on the same credit card you used to reserve the room with.

According to Hilton, by doing that, it allows you to check-in faster. (Of course, I see no difference in the amount of time it takes for me to check in.)

It doesn't affect upgrades one way or the other.

(Edited to correct the product name.)

I think it actually helps your upgrade chances a bit - especially if the hotel fills. They generally do those zip in folders early in the day - including assigning a room. If you arrive late and the hotel turns out crowded, your upgraded room may have gone to some other HH who came in 5 minutes before you.

Zip-In Check-In

What is the "Zip-In Check-In" option when booking a room on hilton.com?

It states the following:
Want to be on your way to your room within 30-seconds of arrival?
Yes, I want to Zip-In Check-InŽ
(To Zip-In, you must use this credit card for payment at the hotel.)

Is there a benefit to selecting this? Do you bypass all lines or is it an option to e-check in?

Is there a downside to selecting this? By zipping in, will I not get a possible room upgrade if there was one available?

I did a search, but couldn't find any answers. Your wisdom is always appreciated!

I can only answer part of the question in that some properties have airline style self checkin kiosks. I've never successfully used one - it's pretty rare that the cehck-in line is prohibitively long so...

I used the one at Hilton LAX once. Nothing special, but it did omit the need to stand in line.
