Mysterious Diamond Upgrade
My status has recently been upgraded from Gold to Diamond for no apparent reason. I am only gold through Amex Centurion, and haven't event stayed at a Hilton property since January 2008. I also seem to have 50,000 extra points in my account. Any ideas about what might be going on ?

I checked the account activity and there is nothing since my last stay in 2008. I found my last monthly summary email and it shows gold status and 50k points less .... Nothing on the account to indicate what has happened.

same here
Centurion IDC since 2 years, and on the 09 april . 50K hhonors points were put into my Hilton Honnor GOld, and so, now I'm Diamond !

there are a number of threads on ft about people reporting getting upgraded to diamond status, or getting diamond status for 2 (even 3) years, or getting a 7 stay challenge to get to diamond....
i guess hilton is trying to win back some customers after the points devaluation earlier this year....

I don't know if it's the reason of the upgrade, but we all have a common points, we are all Centurion from Amex.
So, I guess, this upgrade came from Amex, maybe they upgrade the Status from Gold to Diamond for all Centurion's members as a part of the membership !

But what is sure, it's that the bonus of 50K, is putted on the account with the details "Centurion BONUS" so ....

Congratulations to you. Seriously. But, forgive this from a Diamond of several years who often makes it four ways - I am feeling no respect or love for AMEX at this time.

Me neither. I can't even get my full 40K surpass sign-up bonus! Yes, I'm one of the few who is due the entire amt. They didn't give out any point bonuses 10 yrs ago.

.. the first HH Amex card was a Hilton Optima, I got one 15+ years ago and the bonus I believe was around 5000.
