That said the Marriott offer really doesn't look that great to me either. IHG has just put out its 1Q promos that reach 10K of their points for as little as 2 nights. That's more like it.
Sometimes, got to look for hotel-specific promos, in addition to those offered by the chain...

I just raked in 57,618 HH points from a single stay at the Hilton Hawaiian Village 12/10-12/15

AMERICAN EXPRESS POINT BONUS 17,268
DOUBLE POINTS Q409 OFFER - HILTON HAWAIIAN VILLAGE 13,267
Base Points - HILTON HAWAIIAN VILLAGE 13,267
HAWAII CLUSTER 10,000 PTS OFFER - HILTON HAWAIIAN VILLAGE 10,000
GOLD VIP BONUS - 25% 2009 - HILTON HAWAIIAN VILLAGE 3,316
AMEX CO BRAND ONLINE BOOKING BONUS - HILTON HAWAIIAN VILLAGE 500

You need not get anything for the MR promo. Just log onto your MR account and it will be sitting there ready for you to click on it. Also, there are reports you can call MR and get which ever promo you want - I have the 10 stays = 25,000 points version.

The current 25k for 4 stays promo is a decent offer, and the upcoming Stay on Us promo offering a free night after 4 stays or 10 nights appears to be good, though we of course need to see the details to know for sure.

As discussed in the thread I link, there are FT'ers (myself included) who were not targetted, I do know to log in to my account as disccused in that thread.

If a promotion starts on Jan. 5, but you have a five-night stay beginning Jan. 4, do the four nights from Jan. 5-9 count toward the ten-night requirement, or is the entire stay invalid?

In the face of the massive untimely devaluatin, Jeff Diskin (VP HH marketing) promised a boatload of fantastic public promotions this year.

Am I understanding that there is a new promo--but once again targeted?

AFAIK we're still waiting for official word on the promo from HH, the talk of a targeted promo in posts above refers to a Marriott Rewards promo, I believe.

I can't believe the details have not been released yet. Is HH waiting until 1/5/10?

Well, Marriott announced their Q1 Megabonus promo last week and the '09 Q4 promo runs through 1/15/10. I think Hilton is just lazy and/or hates money.

This might even be true. The January Sale rates are so good, the do not need any further promotions. I booked a Junior Suite at the Bentley for a midweek stay in London for 176 Euro incl. breakfast. All comparable hotels of the other chains had about double that price.
