Because that is something we need to concern about, and many of us saw a hidden reason behind this, If you look at a larger view, it is not just a simply "bonus 500 points if you don't want housekeeping".

If they're serious about this, then they need to offer more than a measly 500 pts for the option, with the money they could be saving. Consider what they charge for housekeeping. At HGVC properties on membership stays, if I want housekeeping it's around $35-$40/per day. At the new West 57th by Hilton Club (which is just HGVC) in NYC, if a stay is less than 4 days, there is an $85 "housekeeping fee" upon check-in (and daily housekeeping is still not included). Just because they have to make up the room more than once in a week.

With HHonors pts about to be hit with a major devaluation, they should offer at least 1,000 pts/day to decline housekeeping.

Good To Know!

At I'm at 107 nights YTD, so for me we're talking about an extra 50,000 points per year...ya, I'd probably opt for it.

So far as I read this is offered at only one HGI somewhere in MN. IMO no big deal so far.

If you would read the first post in this thread, you will see that the hotel is the HGI Minneapolis Downtown (now HGI Minneapolis Convention Center). I just completed another stay there (4 days) and notice that they now have laminated cards in each room explaining this "Think Green Promo" and also confirming that they are the only Hilton family hotel "testing" this program. After you depart, you get a confirmation email stating how many points you have earned. Here is the one I received (personal info redacted):
