[mini-rant] What a lousy program
Tried to use some points for my father who is headed East for a funeral. Was told that points cannot be used for anyone else, even if they are immediate family. Guess I missed the fine print, but I'm tired of paying premium rates at Hertz for anything but premium cars (can't remember the last time I got upgraded to anything worthwhile), fast pick-up (is there any non-Gold parking area at DFW?), roadside service (got a flat? get it fixed yourself!). I'm done with these shenanigans. If lousy service is what I'm going to get, then lousy service is what I'm going to pay for.

So are you angry that you couldn't get what you weren't supposed to get anyways (your points for someone else)?
Or is it those other things that most of us have experienced (unfortunately) when renting vehicles from Hertz (or other rental agencies)? If it's the latter, good luck with whomever you go with - I dunno if you'll get significantly better service. If it's the former, |
Wakko - you seem to have missed my point. I now understand that only I can use my earned points. That said, its a lousy facet of the program that I wasn't aware of, and many other aspects of Hertz services have been extremely poor over the last 6-9 months.
Will I get better service elsewhere? Probably not. Will I pay less? Absolutely. |
I have to second the point that this is a lousy program. In addition to what is mentioned above there is no way to rent for more than one week. Adding insult to this is the fact that you have to wait 24 hours between free rentals so there is no back to back option.
I was looking to use my 27000 points for a free two week rental for a nice driving trip. Was told the max is one week. Then asked to do one week one way. Was told fine, but I'd have to wait 24 hours before I could begin my return. What a joke... |
I dont know... not renting alot on Airports but at the HLE I get a pretty much consistent service, the prices are absolutely low with all these cupon codes (just today I picked a rental Fri-Tue and paid 42$ for a midsize). Considering I earn 1700 BD Miles per rental...
You dont book Hertz because of their great awards, thats for sure. Dont forget: It's a car rental company not a FFP ! The main purpose is getting your rental processed more efficient and with that I think Hertz does a pretty good job. |
