Another Discount Code Question :o

New to this site...wonderful site!! Has anyone used code 0208890 to rent a Hertz car? After making a reservation for California, it came up as a hertz retiree discount...do not want to have any problems. I had a major problem with Avis in Florida when I used an employee discount code....would not honor code with confirmation number/letter and all...no Avis ID...went elsewhere. Do not want this to happen again. Thanks~

Not to be a total jerk, but how about you don't use codes that you're not eligible for. I don't blame Avis for denying your code if you were not an employee.

You won't find too much help from individuals on this site when it comes to using codes that are not for the general public. Ethics says a lot.

Yeah I agree to, don't enter in codes your not eligible for. Chances are they won't look into it too much and there's a more than likely chance they wont bother you at all and just do the rental; but if something did happen, you can't be upset at all. Hertz has all types of Corporate discounts, even if your a member of Costco or BJ's you still save at least 5%, AAA members save up to 20% AARP save up to 10%.

If it has anything to do with Hertz employees, I would avoid it. In general those are the discounts most scrutinized because they are often also the most generous. These are the ones they *do* ask you for ID for. If it's some kind of retired Hertz employee discount, skip it and go to the next best option.

It's not a great code. It's really really-good for full-size, the best I've ever seen, with a really-good discount for standard-convertible and Green. The irony is, I can beat that code with another code, for Prestige and Fun. Just not sure it's worth the risk, for a rental of a full-size. Yet as the previous posters indicated... don't screw with an internal discount code, as it's so easy to identify whether you are permitted to use it or not.

Why you shouldn't use codes you're not eligible for

If you get into an accident - Hertz insurance will be void, AMEX or other credit card protections may not work (if the accident is serious, they will investigate, and their insurance is invalid if you violate the rental agreement) and you are at the mercy of your own insurance company.

Now hotels . . . I always use discounts I'm not eligible for!
