Miami: prestige and fun

I will be renting in Miami in October for columbus weekend. I want something cool from the prestige collection or fun collection.

But it doesnt seem like there is a good selection for their higher end. There is the Audi A4 convertible and then a bunch of mustangs.

I hear alot of stories from folks renting nice cars in Miami. I dont see the selection I see folks talking about.

should I just reserve the mustang in the fun category and hope for another car? help?

I'm actually in the same situation as you, but I'm renting something in Orlando at the end of October... I see the 350z as part of their fun collection, but for some reason it doesn't show up as an available vehicle in their orlando fleet... looking for suggestions myself.

Sometimes it's difficult to reserve the car you really want, especially far in advance, and also very close to your pick up time.

You can call Hertz reservations and ask for a specific car, telephone reservations can do things we mere mortals can't do using the website. I would call reservations and ask for a prepaid (WOW) rental for your car.;)

You can book the Mustang convertible, if it is not a guaranteed Mustang booking, Hertz may switch it for the Toyota Solara or Sebring convertible. Which are obviously not as cool for South Beach.

Hertz has the Corvette (miss the Cadillac ZLR and Jaguar XK8) in its two seat category and the Audi A4 in a 2+2 category. If you see a car in the Hertz lot that you like and it is not already rented, there is nothing to stop you asking how much it will cost to upgrade, even if your rental contract is already printed. The reason I say "ask how much to upgrade" is because if you just ask for an upgrade you are unlikely to get it, because the agent will think you are demanding a free upgrade - and that get's you off to a bad start in the negotiation.:p

my problem with the A4 is that I'm not ready to spend 140$ per day. Even with discounts it comes up to 500$ for the fri-mon rental. I dont think you should pay more than 100$ per day for a rental.

I notice at Budget I can get a CTS for 240$ from friday to monday all taxes and fees included no mileage restrictions.

the CTS is not my first choice, but at 240$ I think that will be my choice.

thanks
