Corvette Convertible at LAX

It appears that Hertz has replaced the Jag XK8 with the Corvette Convertible, at least at LAX. Quite a bit smaller with less snob appeal.

Anyone rented one lately?

Wish they would bring back the XLR. Haven't seen those in a while.

Those are two totally different cars. Call the Jag snobby all you want, I'd take that 50x over the WT baby boomer's mid-life crisis machine. :)

What happened to the Audi S4 convertibles? Are those still around?

Tummy Sep 8, 2006 7:55 am

Well I guess I'm snobby since I wanted to rent a Jag. :)

Interesting, I assume it is the sixth-generation model and automatic only?

I wonder if Hertz will start buying some of the redesigned XK8s soon enough...

Jags

No more Jags at Hertz, same for the XLR's.

Corvettes and Crossfire convertibles coming soon though!

what I first moved to my new house I rented a Jaguar from hertzit was great I actually am considering buying this car now for the future

Too bad we can't get any more

I actually just recently sold my Corvette convertible and while it's a great car it's very impractical for a business trip or any kind of traveler. The Jaguars is a great getting around town car

Wonder if they have the same tight restrictions on these as they do on the GT-H. Seeing that the Vette has 100+ more HP and is a good $10k more, I would hope so....

Flatliner Sep 11, 2006 7:11 pm

now if i could only get my hands on a ZO6.... :D

$200/day plus mileage. Haven't heard anything beyond that.

I rented an XLR in MCO a while back. No restrictions. Got it for a paid upgrade, think it was $50 or $75 extra per day. That was lessened by a 20% off CDP and free day PC for the base F rate. I think it retailed for $76k MSRP.

I loved that car. Stylish, hard top convertible, laser / radar cruise control, head up display, very fast, NAV, intelligent key-fob, keyless start button.

The top did take a long (30 seconds) to retract and opened in a way that exposed all our luggage for the world to see.

Corvette is also available at SFO.

Rented an XLR in LAS last year, the fit between the driver's door and retractable top was already damaged - less than 1000 miles on vehicle.

It was a nice and fast car - the valet would leave it up front!

In addition to the Corvette and Crossfire, it looks like the Infiniti M35 is also coming. ^

But Hertz lists it as an 8-passenger all-terrain vehicle.   Are they confusing it with the QX56, or will it actually be the midsize M35 sedan?

I doubt you can fit 8 (even 6, for that matter, unless someone goes in the trunk) in a M35 :p

Considering that the rental agreement prohibits driving anywhere but paved roads, I'm not sure why they would tout that.
