Luck with reserving a specific make/model
 

Hey all,

I have an upcoming rental at SFO July 4th weekend and this is the first time I'm renting a specific make/model (A4 Cabriolet) through Hertz. What is the likelihood that I'll see that in the stall when I arrive, and if it doesn't, what has been your experience with what you receive instead?

If I don't get the car I would like, I have gone into the office and asked for a specific model in the same class. They have almost always honored my request, particularly early in the day.

The S4 cabriolet is a Prestige Collection vehicle. So if you reserve one, you should get one! I have reserved the Mazda 3 (yes, it's not Prestige) before, and found one in my stall when I arrived at DCA.

With the Prestige cars, it's a very specific reservation, and you should get exactly that model. I suppose there is a small chance it wouldn't be there, for reasons outside of Hertz's control (someone else didn't bring it back or damaged it, etc. and they were all reserved that day). SFO has so many cars, though, that I can't imagine them not finding a suitable replacement.

Just in general, for non-Prestige cars, I've done this twice, and I'm 1 for 2 on exact model. Twice I have reserved a Mazda 6. At SFO, for a one-way to PDX, they gave me a Mazda 6, with bonus of Sirius sat radio that I didn't have to pay for. At MCO, I got a Nissan Altima for a 2-day local rental, which was a reasonable replacement really, but I didn't like it quite as much.

Anybody have any experience with reserving a specific make/model Prestige Car? Have you always gotten what you reserved?

I actually reserved a Lincoln LS one time and they were out. Ended up getting an S80. I emailed Hertz customer service and they refunded my rental charge.

The S80s not that bad. :D
