Oh, it's an "upgrade" alright as far as Hertz car classes go, but who wants to drive a Taurus? I think the other poster didn't personally think it was a better car to get. I'd have to agree.

I'd just like to find a Mazda 6 again. I've rented C several times in a row and haven't gotten one, and even back in January I rented Mazda 6 at MCO and got a Nissan Altima instead (not bad, but still not a 6).

Guess I need to call up and put Mazda 6 in my profile. I've tried a lot of stuff, and it's still a favorite.

My understanding, which is based only on reading this forum for the past couple years (maybe not quite that long), is that there's room for some notes in your Gold profile. There are a number of people that have reported that they put "No Taurus" in their profile, so you could do that. It won't get rid of them all, most likely, but you would reduce your chances of receiving one somewhat. And I'm sure if you put in postive prefs you won't get them always, but if there's a choice, they should at least try. And the more you rent, the more likely these notes will be honored. Some stations will pay more attention to these things than others, based on reports here, but still should improve chances of getting what you want.

i was driving alone so didn't want no gas guzzler. went back to the counter to ask for something smaller, but they just had a sebring or a malibu. i chose the sebring, which turned out to have Sirius radio (yay) and the rental cost magically went down 13 bucks, woot!

I'm starting to get annoyed with SFO though -- this is the third time that they didn't upgrade me (not even to a YC), and I had to go back to the counter and plead for the Subaru. I dunno what's going on as of late (since I rent at SFO almost 40-50 times a year), but they used to be really consistent with PC upgrades on their own.
