Toronto help requested

I want to rent a car for a week in Toronto, and would like to know how I can get the best deal. I don't need anything fancy -- a compact/economy will be fine.

My corporate CDP (458317) seems to give me a worse deal ($193) than CAA/AAA (club 279) ($183). Air Canada Prestige (436521) is showing $174. USA Hockey (98972) and Wells Fargo (65331) show the same rate as CAA/AAA.

I have a PC#945630, which is supposed to give me $25 off a weekly rental. It doesn't seem to work.

I've tried both the Toronto Airport (YYZ) and the Weston/401 location. The airport charges 14% fee; the other location charges $9.

At one point I had the rate down to $144, but I've lost that now.

Should I use the airport or non-airport location? Does it matter if I say I'm arriving by plane or not? What CDP/PC/RQ should I use? When does checking the "quote me the program my company has negotiated" help or hinder?

thanks. :)

The best deals right now are actually at YYZ, despite the 14% fee. They are running weekend specials at $17.50 per day, unlimited km's.

When asking for a rate, do not select the rate your company has selected - it will override the best available rate.

What dates are you looking at? I have a couple of CDP's which give amazing prices, but cannot post them here. If you give me the dates I can give you an idea of what I can price it out for... then maybe help from there.

After YYZ, the next best pricing seems to be downtown - Union Station or Skydome. Not sure, but that is how they work it.

If all else fails, I will call the Mgr at one of the locations and see if I can help you out. I am the top renter in the city for the inner-city and they usually help out when they can.

Welcome to YYZ :)

The best I can get is the $174 rate that you got. Sorry :(

My CDP's work best for a midweek, 1 - 3 day rental when prices are a wee bit expensive (ie I can get a Premium for $35 CAD midweek), but in this case I can't do much.

success!

I got this down to $130 + taxes = $180.

I used PC 953444 (double up offer) and CDP 436521 (Air Canada). I swear it wasn't that good earlier in the day ... maybe you get better rates at 2 am?

Anyway it was worth staying up to save $55. :-)
