Missing massive amount of points?
 
Wondering if anyone else had this happen to them... I've been Hertz PC for the past decade, but stopped renting from them this past July. Definitely still not outside any 12 or 18-month "no activity" period....

I get those Hertz emails that always have the banner at the top that remind you of how many points you have... for the past many months, I've been at ~105k points, which matches my own memory and rental history. Specifically, an email from Hertz indicating my point balance as of 11/17/2019 said ~105k. Then the next email from Hertz as of 11/20/2019 said I have ~69k points. I've logged in to Hertz account, and it also shows my 69k points. But there's no transaction anywhere of a ~36k point drop, and I definitely didn't spend anything! In my mind, I'm suddenly, overnight, missing ~36k points!

I'm overseas right now and running around hectically, so will call when I'm back state side.... but trying via email first. I'm scared I'm about to endure a month long back and forth process around this =/

(PS I also accidentally clicked a 7k points for PC offer just minutes ago.. thinking that the link from email offer would take me to a website with more info, not redeeming the offer immediately! So I gotta "undo" that too.. cause I don't want to spend 7k points for PC.. but that's a different fight).

So I'm getting a huge runaround on my issue here.

I called Hertz up a while back, and they said they would investigate it. They emailed me back in mid-December with a simple "rest assured these point removable is correct due to double points being previously rewarded to you for Multi Month rentals." I did a thorough audit of my own account, and could not find a scenario where 37k worth of points was awarded as "double points" to me. I wrote back to them stating as much, and asked for additional details as to which rental transactions resulted in 37k worth of double points. Additionally, 37k worth of points accounts for ALL my reward point accruals in the past 5 years.. which just seems too absurd to me.

They wrote back again today (after 3 weeks) with a simple, "We have reviewed your account in full and have determined the adjustment was correct. As previously stated, the points were removed due to the account being awarded double points for Multi Month rentals."

Does anyone have any better suggestions on how to get more information from them? I simply don't trust a blanket statement of "trust us we're right" versus getting some actual details.
