Earning Hertz points - how?
Do not rent it for work anymore.
e-rewards a/c is inactive status - I do not know of a transfer option from another reward program. Any other tips? Thanks |
There is no real way that we know of to earn Hertz Gold Rewards points other than to rent with Hertz. You used to be able to buy them, but I don't believe that option is available anymore.
Hertz Gold Rewards points are not particularly valuable, so even if you could buy them (or transfer from another program), it probably would not make much financial sense. You can often do better on rentals by just finding a good discount and coupon code and paying cash. Probably the only exception to this would be if you were looking to do a very expensive one-way rental. Acquiring points elsewhere in this scenario might make sense, but it's sort of academic since I don't believe that any opportunities like this exist currently. |
I have to disagree about Hertz points. I haven't paid for a car rental in years. Between my husband's & my e rewards accounts we get at least a free week, and often more, every year taking surveys.
I just used points for a 2 week rental and I still have enough left over for 2 more weeks. OP - you can keep your account active by redeeming and using an award. They removed the loophole where you could redeem and then cancel and have your expiration date extended. |
Sorry, I should have been more clear. What I meant to say was that it wouldn't have been worth buying Hertz points at the price they used to sell them for (around $0.20 per point), and likely also not worth transferring frequent flyer or hotel points like SPG to Hertz if it were possible as those points almost always have more value in their native programs relative to Hertz Gold Rewards.
Good point about taking surveys. I'd forgotten about the e-rewards program. While it can be time-consuming to earn points this way, it's certainly an option. More info on this program here. |
If I recall correctly, several posters have said e-rewards surveys did not extend their points expiry date.
|
They do not, and I'm sorry if I gave that impression.
I was talking about the way I value points and how many I'm able to earn via e-rewards. |
