Unhappy I need help please! - what do i wrong?

Hallo,

firstable, my english is very bad.
Sorry for that. I will try my best.

I need a rental car from hertz.
Hertz, because i was very satisfied the last years. (i am gold member)

Pickup: 14.10.2017 in San Francisco Airport
Back: 26.10.2017 in Las Vegas Airport

Size: Nissan Altima or Buick Lacrosse or Nissan RAV4

I would like to order directly via hertz.com like the years before, but
the cheapest price i found is about 800 $ for a Nissan Altima.

I used the "VISA CARDHOLER" and 192021.

I also tried various countrys (germany, UK, Netherland, GB, Iceland, Belgium)

What do i wrong? I payed the last years less than the half of this price. :-(

Sorry for my language mistakes.

Thank you.

One-way rentals can be more expensive. Additionally, rates are higher in many cases this year than in previous years due to fleet size reductions by the major rental companies.

Note that rates often drop as the pickup date approaches. The best thing is to book early and then keep checking rates, or use a price tracking service like AutoSlash offers.

What would you recommend?

Book at another company?

800 $ is pretty high, isnt it?

Check all the big companies to see who has the best rate.

One way rentals are often very expensive as AutoSlash notes.

It is unclear whether Hertz is charging a higher daily rate or a drop off fee for the one-way rental. If it is the former, then rent for one-day to drive to LAS. At LAS, turn the car in and rent another car locally for the remaining eight days.

How do you know how long the OP plans to be out of San Francisco before he arrives Las Vegas?

The advice is sound. If OP will be in one area for a while, rent with local rates, then get a one way to the destination, turn in and rent for the rest of the time.
If it's a protracted trip from one place to the other, this won't work.

Depending on where you will be staying, and what you hope to see, you might not need a car in San Francisco, and maybe not even in Las Vegas. Are you sure that you want a car for all 12 days? How many people will be in your party?

When I checked on Kayak.com, I see Intermediate and full sized cars from about $420 at major agencies, somewhat less at Fox for your dates. Why don't you try looking there?

AutoSlash may be able to help you find an even better deal. I've used them in the past.

Good luck!

I'd make sure that I was looking in the OP's own country, or at least one that allows for rentals that include insurance.

Qantas can sometimes have excellent rates, though not in this case (at least not with Hertz). They can offer an Avis rental for $528 all in in a group E (Avis's full size). Qantas is good because it lets you specify your country of residence but still quotes an Australian point of sale rate.

If the OP is German, cardelmar.de has a Ford Fusion from Thrifty for €356. Sadly a premium is still nearly double the price.

Have you tried to search SFO to LAX/ LAX to LAS?

The rate would be cheaper if you switch a car at LAX (two separate bookings)

Yup. I rented a car for a week at Hz LAS and returned it to Hz LAS, at which time I picked up another car for a one-way to the Los Angeles area. Saved some $$$ for sure.
