Mod note - As of 7/25/2018: We've had quite a few "Hey, come use this CDP. It's great" type of posts. When the CDP doesn't give a good discount, but is only posted to try to get renters to use the CDP of someone so the poster can earn perks from their Hertz Corporate account. From here out, please put the company/trade group/etc that's associated with the CDP or we'll delete the post to keep it on-topic here

Confusion over CDP

So I booked through a 3rd party site (Car Rental Savers) and got a great rate for a week in Hawaii. I got the confirmation and made sure it was all good with Hertz. While doing so, I noticed that the price was so great due to a CDP code. The CDP is for Travel Leisure Golf, which from googling, shows a golf magazine that hasn't been around since 2009. So I'm not sure what to do. I don't want to potentially lose a reservation for using a code I'm not "allowed" to use.

Any insight would be great!

Canít really comment on the viability of that CDP, but maybe track the reservation with AutoSlash to see if we can find you a similar or better deal?

No idea. When I check the reservation on Hertz's site it says:

CDP: TRAVEL LEISURE GOLF
RC: CR

I'd attach a screenshot, but I haven't posted enough.

If you have a MasterCard that CDP gives a good discount

I am PC from National EE Match and I was previously Gold from My Amex Plat. I rented a Midsize ICAR in LAS and since I was going to cancel my Plat I used another to rent it for insurance. I received my confirmation of my Midsize Rental but no confirmation on if I could use the Ultimate Choice Aisle. When I switch the card it says I would lose Gold but I did not care because I was PC. May be I should have cared, IDK. Am I good for the Ultimate aisle?

You are good. As long as you are Gold (any status level) you can use UC. Just grab a car from the PC UC section and head for the exit booth. Anything that needs to be done to process your rental can be done there. You do not have to stop at the counter.

Getaway rates?

Hey all -

My company recently was bought by a much larger company, and in some googling I stumbled across a "getaway rates" for us from hertz. The rates looks significantly less that normal. It says that a corporate ID is required for the rate - will showing my new email be enough? Or reserving with an email from the company?

Question about how to determine exactly who qualifies for a rate:

I used a rate that I can find from my login with a university that I am an alum at. The university account system knows I am an alum and not a current student, and I had to log into the site with my school account to see their page with the link, although you could just google (University Name) Hertz discount and find a direct link to the Hertz page for it that way. It is explicitly listed as being ok to use for personal/leisure travel, but I can't find any fine print beyond that with any specific details on who officially has the right to use it.

I wouldn't worry except for the following: the rate (again, the leisure/personal rate, not their business one, I made absolutely sure of that) includes LDW. A day or two ago, when I went to my car from my hotel's parking lot, I saw a decently sized ding on a back passenger door. (I suspect a careless person threw their door open into mine. The car is nearly brand new, and the light catches the ding in such a way that it's clearly noticeable.) I worry that since it is now in Hertz's financial interest to find me ineligible, they might try to do so.

I still have my school email, and my school account (which I used to find the discount in the first place), and one of the verification methods mentioned for proving your right to use a discount code in general is a relevant email account. However, I no longer have a school ID. Given that the school website shows me the discount link when logged in, and I have my @(university).edu email that I can show to Hertz, I hope I should be fine. Is there anywhere I could hope to find details about this? Does anyone have any other advice? I have the car for a few more days, so I'd like to either reassure myself or be prepared for any issues.

It really varies on the location and the employee you interact with as to if they would check the work ID.

AND if you have status with hertz so you can just zip on by the desk and grab a car solamente, no real employee interaction needed.

I would think a corporate email on file would do the trick IF they were so inclined to ask.

Read your contract in detail, typically the university discounts are available to alumni, just ensure that. If for some reason they disallowed the insurance, did you use a credit card that acts as primary insurance such as a Chase card. Do you own a vehicle, if so your own insurance will step in if necessary. Best luck and keep us posted. I wouldnít make them aware of the ding when you drop it off I will just leave it and go.
