Mod note - As of 7/25/2018: We've had quite a few "Hey, come use this CDP. It's great" type of posts. When the CDP doesn't give a good discount, but is only posted to try to get renters to use the CDP of someone so the poster can earn perks from their Hertz Corporate account. From here out, please put the company/trade group/etc that's associated with the CDP or we'll delete the post to keep it on-topic here

The insurance quoted by AutoSlash below was always included. What has changed is that rates have gone up (at least in markets I've rented from before) and all USAA coupons are gone. I've even tried contacting USAA multiple times about this but my calls/emails get me no other answer than "we'll forward this to the right department". I doubt they even bother.

donít know what to tell you, but USAA rate didnít get insurance built-in in its rate until last year. So this Ďalwaysí really isnít that long.

Historically speaking (before covid and after), USAA rate was never always cheaper than other public CDPs, including AAA

What's the best publicly available (i.e. no ID or corporate affiliation required) 20% off CDP that works globally? The Amex MR one? Is there another one or with a better discount?

On the whole, when it comes to publicly available CDPs, the AAA discount is probably the best performer overall, but there are many that are useful in different situations. By far, the easiest approach to find the "best" discount for any particular rental is to submit a quote request to AutoSlash and let us run the numbers. It's hard to beat a computer for sheer brute force when it comes to trying large numbers of coupons and discount codes.

I just tried the AAA CDP but it seems to be 10% off instead of 20% globally with Amex MR. I always submit to AutoSlash but lately I am able to get lower rates with the Amex MR CDP and some creativity.

Not every CDP is a blanket percentage off in every situation. It can vary be location, date, vehicle types, etc. If you want to DM us the inquiry# from your quote or tracking request, we'd be happy to take a closer look to see if we can do any better.

As good amex platinum?

Does anyone have a CDP as good as amex platinum, I've search through the thread and can't locate any that come close...

Unfortunately I no longer have my amex platinum, and wouldn't feel comfortable using the code without it in case there was an accident

Have you tried to request a quote from AutoSlash? You just check the boxes for the discounts you're eligible for and the system will find the best deal.

You can also track your rental after booking and we'll notify you if we find a better deal so you can just cancel and re-book for additional savings.

Hmm, that's strange. Feel free to PM us with the request number from the bottom of the quote we sent and we'd be happy to take a further look.

I'm new here. So I just found out AMEX Platinum has different CDPs for each geographical region. I accidentally made a booking using the CDP for AMEX Platinum EMEA. My card was not issued by a European, Middle Eastern or African AMEX/bank. You reckon that will be an issue? I tried modifying the reservation using the correct CDP but the cost goes up by about 20%.

It should not be an issue. No reason to worry. If you're an Amex Platinum cardholder, you should be fine.

Never knew, how did the EMEA rate appear?

60% off the regular rate.

Yeah, didn't realize that the CDP page on the AMEX Platinum website had a dropdown menu for countries.
