Please keep the discussion here about the US Hertz fleet and not arguing about the Chrysler 300 pros/cons.

Thanks,

Since there are so many Chrysler products in the Hertz fleet, it seems pertinent to this thread to ask if you have seriously never noticed this across multiple models of Chrysler product? It's far worse in the Dodge Challenger and Charger but still noticeable in the Chrysler 300.

I have never noticed the "new car smell" to be materially different among automakers or among models of a given automaker.

I used to detail cars for a living, and yes, this a thing. New cars all pretty much smell the same from the factory, but after say six months or so... yeah, each auto manufacturer does seem to have a signature smell. I never noticed it until I was in and out of dozens of cars a week. It's off-gassing from the carpets and upholstery. Less noticeable on cars with leather seats, more noticeable if the carpet has ever gotten wet due to missing floor mats. I never minded the small of Chrysler vehicles, but I always thought Fords smelled funky. Mercedes vans and trucks are truly gag-worthy, especially if they've been allowed to bake in the sun for a few days.

That way, if Hertz doesn't have an eight-seater, you can just cancel and get the (higher-priced) eight-seater.

Should definitely submit a request to autoslash, and see what they come up with (autoslash.com, lots of discussion on the general rental car board, service works very well and is free).
Just wanted to day thanks for the advice. I tried Autoslash and to my surprise the quotes actually came back cheaper than if I was doing it myself for the 8 seater by about 15%. I travel shortly, I'll let everyone know what the fleet is like when I get to the Hertz lot.

of course not, but this one Was more than a year old car with scratches and dents many places, seats were full of stains, it smelled bad as well as just felt like The car Was really used ( of course when its a more than 1 year old car at rental places it Will be used and prob driven Way harder) if it was Maybe a couple of months old The over-all view would prob have changed of The car, but Who knows?

went back three days later as we drove by The airport anyway and asked if we could swap it, and upgraded to a almost brand new BMW 530 for 30 bucks a Day. Has a i had a voucher of 200 dollar anyway i Think it Was well spent as we had some long days og driving..

but everyone has their opinions to cars

I like the Chrysler 300, but I'd much prefer a Cadillac or even a Buick. Then again, I'm a GM guy

Of course, Toyotas are supposed to be more reliable. But I'm not buying the car, so as long as it works during my rental, it's all good. FWIW, my last rental was a 2019 Camry from Avis with 10k miles, and I had a complete electrical failure on the highway at 80 mph.

It seems like there is no Vette reservable at SFO anymore, regardless of date or rental length. Have they all been removed from the fleet? Also any recent feedback on the Boxsters at SFO especially with regard to the options on the car?

Haven't seen reservable Corvette Stingrays at SFO for the past year or so. I think they phased those out.
But the Hertz Z06 has been reservable at least as of a couple months ago, could be they're all booked/held for the summer months.

SFO seems to lack good Adrenaline options, mostly just Challenger R/T.

Even with the Challenger R/T class you might get unlucky. One of my reservations they gave me a 35K mile dirty Challenger R/T with left over trash (water bottles and eservation documents from previous renter with all his info on it), but they had two new white R/T Scat Packs as well. When I asked for one of those, they refused to give me one of the Scat Packs claiming it was "a different class" (not true) and claiming it was a $75/day upgrade (BS as well). I asked to speak to the manager and his excuse was "well they haven't been cleaned yet". Despite the fact that the cars were clearly clean, and me assuring him I'm happy to take the car as is (probably cleaner than the car they originally assigned), you can guess it never worked out.

If you want to rent Adrenaline cars, avoid SFO. It's been disappointing.

So picked up at IAD, booked at MVAR and a FRAR.
Was assigned a Dodge Caravan and a Dodge Durango. 7 seats of course.
Walked the lot and none of the larger SUVs had 8 seats, the ones with the bench seat in the middle usually had 2 seats only in the third row.
They had 2 Toyota Siennas on the lot (but not in Gold or 5star), but it was like pulling teeth to get them to give one to me ... even with 5star.
So my recommendation for anyone who needs 8 seats with Hertz? DON'T. lol.

I’m renting a car for skiing from Denver in feb and would like to get a high chance of getting an awd or 4wd vehicle as possible. Which of the 2 classes do you think I’d have better luck? Standard elite crossover (z4) or full-size recreational vehicle (L4)? The only one when I look at Denver that explicitly lists it as 4wd is the luxury suv (Cadillac Escalade 4wd or similar) but don’t think I really need or want such a big vehicle. It’s going to me + wife + 2 kids and ski equipment.

Any of the SUV ones should be fine (Q4, L, L4). There are separate 2WD classes.

Honda H-RV spotted here in Tampa. Was a guest staying with us but did not valet, ergo did not get a chance to identify a class or even own area. Was extremely tired; over 35,000 miles and heavy wear on steering wheel/door.

Hello, I just booked a car in Miami of the prestige category Z4 and the hertz operator has told me that in that category the cadillac xt6 appeared. Do you think it is possible?
