for a week and wanted to know what they mean by 'or similar'.

reason i ask is because we will be needing space for a baby seat and 5 people to sit comfortably.

what are other cars 'similar' to a freestyle ...freestyle's website says seating for 7. i dont want to go there and get stuck with a small suv for an uncomfortable trip. do you think it would be possible to get a bigger car if they dont have anything similar to the freestyle?

please advise=)

thanks.

also i've never uesd my gold card yet and want to know how to get the #1 awards to apply to my rental permentantly. can i do this via website?

thanks!
Dear Original Poster, If you still check this account, please give us a summary rundown of what happened with your rental for seven passengers. Were they able to accommodate your needs? I googled "Hertz" with the same exact (almost) issue and found this similar question was asked, and it would just be nice to give the thread some context that can help others in our similar situation in the future. I realize this thread is two years old but still has some relevance, hence why google brought me here.

My rental is coming up this week so I may be back next week to post my own recap, in the spirit of what I have expressed. Thank you.

Thanks for your reply, I'm taking the train into Philadelphia and renting from the Amtrak station. I'm working on status but have not reached any elite yet. To get the 7 passenger vehicle reserved, minivan was far too expensive, and some of the larger SUV classes have been sold out at this location, so I went with the "Full Sized Recreational Vehicle: Nissan Pathfinder/Other" class and will see about availability when I get there. I only have a party of 5 not 7, but the vehicles rated for 5 passengers would tend to be cramped based on past experience with them, since we are vacationing we want the third row of seating option.

The wikipost in this thread lists the alternative cars within the RRAR/FRAR class that you have booked, Unfortunately, there's a good deal of variation within the fleet (a Dodge Journey is much smaller than a Chevy Tahoe. That being said, they *should* be able to provide you with a vehicle within your reserved class, but do not expect for them to have more than one or two of that class on site. If they don't, you can hope they will swap you into a larger vehicle or perhaps allow you to swap the vehicle at the PHL Airport location.

Yes, they do share a fleet but Dollar is at the bottom of the Hertz hierarchy and is generally restricted to higher-mileage base trimmed vehicles. Thrifty (also a part of Hertz) has comparable rates to Dollar, and while still restricted to base models, I've have much better luck getting lower mileage vehicles.

BMW X3 is currently classed as "H4" which also includes the Inifiniti QX50, Range Rover Evoque, and Mercedes GLC. They'll likely just bring over from Hertz one of whatever they have the most of on the day of your rental.

Last time I was there, I don't recall seeing much of an upgrade area... that Dollar location is a pretty small facility compared to the nearby Hertz. So it's fairly unlikely you'll have many upgrade options. Again (not trying to plug Thrifty), but the LAX Thrifty, last time I was there had a row of Corvettes parked out front... so you upgrade options might be better there if the rates are the same.

NYC must have just received a shipment of German luxury sedans; I saw four or five BMW 530s at LGA today and two more at the HLE near me, plus a Mercedes A220. All had New York license plates starting with "JJJ"

I'm not sure who edited the wikki post to make the RWD T/T6's classify as K6's.
2WD Large Suvs are T2
2WD Extra Large SUVs are T9

I've always been curious... does Hertz re-tag their existing keys when a vehicle changes classes, or do vehicles just live on... tagged in assorted classes based on when they were in-fleeted?

I believe they would change out the tag if a car gets to a major airport location, but if they stay at hle throughout their live nothing would be done.

Since the Prestige Collection now breaks down into so many individual classes, and is no longer "reserve a specific model," I split up the listings into all the individual Prestige vehicle classes.

You may want to hold off, I think Hertz is still trying to figure out classifications itself. I rented the same car 1 month apart, and it went from a T4 to a K4. I was a Linc Nautilus AWD. 2.0T. I think with the introduction so many newer "Luxury" vehicles between 2019-2020, i think they're continually attempting to place them correctly. Like with the introduction of the Cadillac XT4, XT6, CT4/5, and Lincoln Corsair, and Aviator, all of which will be in the fleet.

Any list is going to be a snapshot of a moment in time, but we can keep updating it if vehicles move from one category to another.

I reserved a Full-Size Pickup (Group S) in April for DEN rental coming up. My recollection that the number of passengers was 6 at the time of the reservation, but in looking again today, it now says 5 passengers. This is a trip where I'll actually need that 6th seat in the front bench. Did anyone else notice that switch? I'm hoping that even if my assigned pickup doesn't have it, there will be another option on the lot with a 6th seat.
