I reserved a Full-Size Pickup (Group S) in April for DEN rental coming up. My recollection that the number of passengers was 6 at the time of the reservation, but in looking again today, it now says 5 passengers. This is a trip where I'll actually need that 6th seat in the front bench. Did anyone else notice that switch? I'm hoping that even if my assigned pickup doesn't have it, there will be another option on the lot with a 6th seat.

Unless they're low on pickups and only have new Rams, you shouldn't have a problem getting a 6-seat pickup. Silverado, F-150, Ram Classic are all 6-seat and those are still the majority of the pickups at most locations. And if by chance that is all they have, you can definitely push for a 7-seat SUV instead.

This is a very good point. I'll also add that Hertz seems to be doing a lot of A/B testing of their site right now. In the past few weeks I've been served up several versions of the site, each of which seems to display a slightly different mix of vehicles as category examples.

Need some help all. I'll be flying into IAD, 2 families - 4 adults, 2 kids and 2 toddlers (ie 2 child seats).
There doesn't seem to be an 8 seater option for Hertz ... what should I book that isn't a full sized van?
The minivan options seem to be 7 seaters. Any advice is much appreciated.

Looking at their used fleet, the Nissan Pathfinder and Ford Explorer looks like it has the full middle row ... maybe I'll book both an MVAR and FRAR.
We could fit with 7 seats it would just be tight.
Thanks for your help.

Hi everyone,
Very good thread and very useful!!
I am renting a GCAR, Full size Elite (K) next week at LAX and the Hertz webpage says it should be a Jaguar XF or similar, and your summary mentions I could get an E Class, a 5 series or an S90, within that class. At this moment, this category shows as sold out. And I am wondering if they don't have the car category at the moment I arrive, would they upgrade me to something else? What could it be? It seems there is not a Premium Elite, and the only option would be a Luxury elite like a BMW 7 series or even to upgrade it to a Luxury SUV. What should I expect?
Since I prepaid the rental, I am not sure it they would try to take advantage of that and offer me some old huge SUV as an upgrade as I have not many choices
Any ideas?
And something else, did anyone of you use that drop off service at the terminal with the rented car, and then some driver delivers it to Rental Return?
Thanks!!
Thanks!!

Just picked up a 2018 (!) Chrysler 300s at Boston with a luxury reservation - what a disgrace to classify this car as a luxury? Its so not premium at all and has The worse seating position ever! I feel so cheated by Hertz, providing me a more than 1 year old rental car with more than 20.000 miles on The odo..

Would gladly book one again, but they are often too highly priced.

I wouldn't be so certain, aren't a lot of these configured with the 2nd row captain's chairs, so they only seat seven?

The last Yukon XL I drove was a few years ago and it was 2-3-3 seating but 2-2-3 is an option, I suppose. I highly doubt the 3-3-3 (all bench seating) versions are in the Hertz fleet, but they do exist.

Just stopped by both Hertz and National when picking up a car. Both had Yukon XLs in UC/ES. Hertz had captain's chairs (2 seats in the second row) and National had a bench seat. If you really need an 8 passenger, I think you'd be safer with National/Enterprise/Alamo

There is a nine-seat version of the Suburban and the Tahoe/Yukon, but I've never seen one in a rental fleet, and I don't think I've ever seen one as a car service vehicle either.
