I was in Dublin. But I have no problem driving larger vehicles around my home country: Range Rover, BMW X5, Audi Q7 and A7 through small towns and in and out of parking spaces.

Booked: F (Hyundai Sonata or similar)
Received: Hyundai Sonata....

I didn't realize that in the fine print they don't have to upgrade to anything other then a F car.... so much for booking an F and hoping for better upgrade.....

And yes, I am new to PC as I recently status matched over from National.

Presidents Circle
Location: FLL
Booked: D (VW Jetta or similar)
Received: 2017 GMC Acadia (apparently an L4) with ~6,000 miles.

Backstory: I arrived (with my family) at the Hertz location in the FLL rental facility only to find a line of people (upwards of 30) and NO cars available.

It turns out that they had fallen behind in their cleaning, and so were simply assigning cars as they drove up, newly cleaned.

My wife is a very nervous traveler (although getting better with each trip). The last thing she (or my kids) wanted to do was stand in line for 30+ minutes, waiting on our car while our vacation was beckoning. (Yeah, I know, the same was probably true for everyone else...)

I walked up to the Hertz employee who was doing a masterful job of juggling everything and coordinating the car assignments, gave her my name and mentioned that I was a President's Circle member. She did a quick check of her lists and stated "You'll have the next one."

Sure enough, 30 seconds later, the next car to pull up (a GMC Acadia) was ours. We skipped the long line of people, loaded up the car and took off.

Cheers, Hertz! You gained a lot of appreciation and loyalty from me and my family this week. (Spring break is just starting to get going in Florida, so I'm willing to cut them some slack for the logistical snafu... and the way they handled it was awesome.)

Hertz Gold 5*
Booked: A (smallest; Toyota Aygo or similar)
Received: F (Compact), VW Golf Automatic

Nice car, 8 months old but less than 1200 kms on the clock and still a very new car. Many options (rear view cam, navigation, blind spot detection), so all in all a nice car.

Was expecting a Mazda faux-SUV at Montreal a couple of weeks ago but got a Dodge Journey instead. Nice motor and fuel at equivalent of 60p a litre made the 3.6L engine seem frugal (it wasn't).

Yikes, I personally think that the Mazda CX-9 is an overwhelmingly better car than the Dodge Journey. However, I think the 2015 CX-9 was the last model year that Hertz Canada bought even though the SFAR class shows the CX-9 as the example vehicle. Hertz Canada has mostly Toyota Highlander LEs in that class now.
