What is the difference between classes B4 and Q4?

I needed an SUV driving from Chicago to San Francisco, so I booked a "Midsize SUV" from Hertz- website said Jeep Compass or similar. The class code is Q4.

The car that I ended up picking up (didn't get a choice) was a Volkswagen Tiguan. I am not very knowledgable about cars so I drove away. Then I realised the key tag said this is a class "B4" car. It is also not an AWD car, which I thought it was.

I then called Hertz to ask about this. I was then told that the B4 is an upgrade from the Q4- none of them are guaranteed to be AWDs and the B4 is the more prestigious collection.

I am a little suspicious about this since the B class is showing up as "compact" on the Hertz website and costs less than the Q4. I would very much appreciate if anyone could clarify what exactly are the differences between the two classes and that if I have been ripped off!

First time poster here, thanks in advance for your help!

Hertz are tagging the 2 wheel drive cars B4 and the All Wheel Drives one Q4. Most of the cars that come in this class are available in either guise.

Telling you that the B4 is an upgrade is not just disinenguous, it is a blatant lie. (though you may well think that a Tiguan rather than a Compass is a sort of upgrade, as it is a better car, and you that would be kind of right).

Every single Q4 I reserved on my recent trip ended up being a B4. I tried protesting that this was not actiually supplying theAWD vehicle I had reserved and was paying for, but it fell on very deaf ears.

An upgrade to a prestigious car? Not every German car is a premium, as Germans also produce Opel (GM) and Volkswagen.

Calling Volkswagen Tiguan a more prestigious car is like calling Heineken a premium beer  :td:
They can only pull it off when customers haven't experienced a European car or a real Belgian/Dutch/German beer, respectively.

I had this happen recently at CLT. Didn't realize til after that Q4 to B4 was a downgrade. Wrote in and pointed out the B4 was actually ten dollars less per day and asked for that refunded (times two days) and haven't heard back almost two weeks later. PC here.
