Upgrades for Gold Plus 5* on Greek Islands?
I booked a car for Kefalonia airport (EFL)

I was informed there is no Gold counter service here, but might I still expect the usual upgrade based on my status as a Gold Plus Rewards Five Star ?

In London I always get a decent upgrade without asking....

I wouldn't get your hopes up. Upgrades sometimes happen at "corporate" locations such as Heathrow but staff at small locations have never heard the word upgrade.

Then again I beg to differ: We had a one-day rental off a cruise in Korfu, definetely not a corp. location. Booke group A. The owner of the local firm brought us a 3 class upgrade (Brand new Opel Astra) into the port (His son accompanied him in his own car to drive him back to their office). Showed him my drivers licence, and that was that. Upon return gave the keys to the local café owner.
Billed as agreed, extremely favourable rate.
