Hertz Flight Information

Based on your experiences, do you guys usually put in the flight information that Hertz asks for?
I searched and found on this forum that someone said that they would only hold the car for 30 mins after your flight arrival but with checked bags that can easily take longer.
It was a very old thread so I'm wondering if things are been different now.

Any experiences? Is it better to enter flight info or just not enter it?

I do enter it, although I don't put much weight into it.

Ex: Once flew DFW-LIT (arriving into Little Rock on last flight sched) which was supposed to land approx. 30min before the Hertz closed for the evening. Had a 1 way rental as I had to drive to MEM that night. Flight was delayed, figured Hertz would see this & have rep wait for us to get there or make some arrangement to made sure the 10 of us got our rentals. Land, nobody at Hertz still there.

It can definitely be worth it at some airports.

If there are multiple terminals and multiple Hertz locations, putting the flight number in , ensures that the car will be at the correct terminal

nice information to know. I also read that some people did not get gold upgrade alerts if they did not enter their flight info.
Anyone know how accurate this is?
Anyways I think I will be entering flight info from now on.
Good point Dave, I didn't think about the fact that they might use the info to put the car in the proper terminal.

If you are significantly delayed they can use the flight info to see if you were delayed or just not picking up the car. I've never had an issue with the thirty minute thing, I can't possibly see them doing that at many locations, by the time you clear customs (if necessary), get bags, get the shuttle to the pick up, and whatever else happens, they know many people won't make it in 30.

Yeah, I figured they would take all the checked bags, shuttle etc into account.

Any of you have any experiences on using the Mobile Gold Alerts? I have them enabled but was wondering when do you usually get them? Does Hertz send it out an hour before pick up time?
And how would you check them on the plane since there probably won't be cell service on the plane right? So I guess the only way is to check by email using plane's wifi?

This is my first time renting as gold at an airport. I've rented at HLE many times but never had the chance to use Gold services.

Step #1: Significantly lower any expectation you have. :p

Crazy not to enter it. When you no show due to a delay, do you want a car held (even if it's not exactly what you want) or run the risk that you do a walk-up and hope they've got a coal-fired Yugo hanging around?

I put in the flight info and my flight was delayed, I think arrival was past 1am. RNO closes at 1230am and the employee was there waiting at the counter for me with keys and a contract. All the other companies were closed. I think I was a 5* then, being a former car shuttler for Hertz, they got my business since.

Thanks for the advice. I will enter in flight information whenever I rent now.
As far as the gold upgrades go, I know that nothing is guaranteed and I have to say that I do have low expectations so I can avoid being disappointed :)

I was just wondering when Hertz will send out the alerts if anyone has used them before.
I'm not gonna expect to count on it but just to have it as an alternative in case I don't like the car I get. I can always go to the gold aisle as well but I wouldn't expect much from there as well.
I wouldn't consider myself to be too picky of a renter but of course if there's a better car I would take it. Who wouldn't right?

So, does anyone have an estimate of when they receive the alerts in relation to their rental pick-up time?

that is really good to know. I will definitely enter flight information from now on.
From reading some old posts on here, some people said that they don't really use the flight info for anything because someone's flight was delayed but Hertz still closed but I guess that has now changed which is a good thing.

I usually enter my flight info.

My recommendation is to always enter it if you are arriving late at night. If you're flight is delayed and they don't know that you're on it, they probably won't wait for you.

I'm sure it varies -- I suspect the employees are not required to stay from say 10pm until 3am if a delayed flight is due (which the passenger might not even be on, e.g. having rushed to board an alternate flight to another city without even time to call). But having the flight info there at least lets an employee who might care check and see that you're due 30 minutes after they would have otherwise closed and make a call. I can't see that it can ever hurt.

yes, it all makes sense. thanks for all your inputs. I will enter in my flight info from now on whenever I rent with Hertz.

One of the primary reasons I moved my business to Hertz was based on what the Manager at a particular location did for me. My flight was rescheduled to arrive well after the location closed. Instead of telling me that she couldn't help me, she made arrangements to leave my contract and keys with security at the airport. My then current company refused to help and told me to get back to the airport the next day to pick up the car.

I started to mention the location but didn't since it might have been a violation of company policy to accomodate me the way they did.
