If you're looking for a specialty vehicle from Hertz (something from the Prestige/Adrenaline/Green Collections), it is helpful if you can specify the four-letter car size code (i.e. ICAR, MVAR, etc.) shown on the Hertz website for the specific vehicle you're looking for.

Hertz in Namibia is a franchise that blocks all discount codes, so the price is the price. Avis/Budget are pricing higher than Hertz even with discounts, so no better there at least on the Hilux. We can however offer you a discounted rate of $198.68 USD on a Toyota Fortuner 3.0 D 4x4 (automatic trans) with Budget at the WDH airport if you are interested.

I may take you up on that, but I've had spotty service with Budget on multiple occasions (once in HNL and the other in SFO). It's also cost prohibitive to pickup at the airport as it's a $25 ride back there from town. I would pick up the night before but my flight lands at 9PM and immigrations is a nightmare from what I've read.

Are there any downtown locations I can pick up from? Also, Budget does not participate in the USAA program meaning I won't get the insurance coverage (if Namibia is even covered) or the underage fee (23) if charged waived.

First off, Budget (and Avis) absolutely does participate in the USAA program as per this link on Budget.com although like Hertz, I am doubtful whether either benefit would be of much use in Namibia given that these locations are franchises. As for renting off-airport, no problem. You can click here for discounted rates. If you need to change dates/times, just click on the Change your search link at the top of the search results page after clicking through.

Thanks for the help. Is there somewhere I can confirm that the vehicle is a 4x4? It doesn't list on the website, just says full-size SUV.

First off, there is never a guarantee of getting 4WD/AWD unless you're renting a Jeep. Your best bet is to call the location directly after making the reservation to inquire. They may be able to make a note on the reservation that you'd prefer 4WD/AWD and do what they can to accommodate you. At the very least, they can advise you of how likely you are to get 4WD/AWD in the class you booked.

All of that said, it looks like you requested an Intermediate Wagon as opposed to an SUV, so I'm not quite sure how the discussion changed to an SUV. With an SUV you may get 4WD/AWD, but with a wagon, it's much less likely.
