More information can be found on the first page of this thread.

Additionally, you can save time by having AutoSlash generate a quote for you up-front by clicking here, or if you've already got a rental booked, just click here to enter your info and AutoSlash will check to see if a lower rate is available.

If you're looking for a specialty vehicle from Hertz (something from the Prestige/Adrenaline/Green Collections), it is helpful if you can specify the four-letter car size code (i.e. ICAR, MVAR, etc.) shown on the Hertz website for the specific vehicle you're looking for.

We are happy that this thread generates many new FlyerTalk members, and we hope you will stick around. By learning & sharing our knowledge freely, we all become better travelers. Hopefully some day you will be posting a reply, showing a new guy how to get a good rate.

Can yall help my friend out?

Pickup Location: Clearwater, FL (there are 3 HLEs and an airport, I think he can go as far as TPA though)
Dropoff Location: same
Pickup Date and Time: Sept. 28, 2012 @ location open time
Return Date and Time: March 30, 2012 @ the same time
Vehicle Size Preference: cheapest
Memberships: none

I suppose you could try the Car&Driver CDP or some of the other ones that are open to anyone. Thanks in advance! (from both myself and my friend )

Just to confirm, is this really a 7-month rental or was the pickup or dropoff date incorrect above?

Oh lord October 1st.

I'd search this myself but I'm afraid I'd end up booking my friend someplace in Africa next year.

Straight from the FRDM T&C:
Rates do not apply in CA; please call for comparable rates.
I'd be willing to bet that's their out - assuming they intentionally neutered it. Could be the Hertz site in its buggy glory though, as well.

Help with a long rental out of Santa Fe, NM

Hello,

I am trying to help my brother rent a car for a long trip out of Santa Fe, NM. We are hoping to offset the rental car cost with the benefit of a higher MPG than he gets from his old Jeep.

I spent a lot of time looking through the Hertz/Budget threads yesterday and ended up with a rate of that totaled: $489.82 using UNITED A\L FF DISCOUNT and PC: 166401. The rate does not include insurance. My brother can pickup anywhere in Santa Fe, NM and will be driving all the way to Chicago then back. Hoping one of the wizards on here can help:

Pickup Location (airport, city, or ZIP code/postcode): Santa Fe, NM (HLE or Airport)
Dropoff Location (if different) (airport, city, or ZIP code/postcode): Same
Pickup Date and Time:9-27-12, Noonish
Return Date and Time:10-16-12, Noonish
Vehicle Size Preference:Compact (or another car with 4 doors and high MPG)
Memberships (AAA/USAA/etc): None, but if I need to make an account that includes free membership I will do it.

I'd appreciate any help you could offer.

Thank you.

Rental Car for Formula 1 Weekend in Austin, TX

Hi all,
I've never rented a car, so need some help.

I'm going to Austin, TX for Formula 1 weekend in November and trying to figure out the most cost effective way to rent a car there.

Location: AUS airport
Pick up: Nov 16 at 3pm
Drop off: Nov 19 at 6am
Car size: don't care

I don't specifically need Hertz, but can do any of the rental agencies as long as it's cheap.

The best rate I found was through Budget/Avis for Intermediate size car by redeeming 1000 AA miles+$88

Hertz at 2010 CERRILLOS ROAD would be $430.71 for an economy car or $455.61 for a compact car with the Friends of Hertz CDP and PC 168210. Rates were much higher at the Santa Fe airport, and Hertz seems to beat Avis/Budget/Enterprise after discounts on this one, so it's definitely your best bet.

I'm currently showing the best deal with Avis at $246.11 and Dollar at $173.87. If you can get that $88 rate with Avis using 1K AA miles, it's well worth it.
