MyKey Speed Governor Mustang
Just Rented a Mustang and am driving on a 75 MPH highway. went to pass some one and discovered that the MyKey feature has been engaged with a speed governor set at 80. Is this normal for Hertz? Little scary not knowing you dont have a little extra to pass or enter free way.
Anyone know a hack or work around for this???

You should never "need" to go above 80, passing doesn't mean speed excessively to overtake another vehicle, legally, passing means you overtake another vehicle while not exceeding the speed limit posted.
As for hacking, no, you would need the master key to change it.

OP, I think the caps are only on Ford vehicles, but not positive.

Disagree with this. OP mentions entering a highway, and one might reasonably expect that on a highway with posted 75 mph speed limit, the flow of traffic is 80-85. Safety would dictate entering the highway with the flow of traffic.

I think this is something that legitimately varies depending on the location. Along I-30 between Dallas and Fort Worth, for example, the speed limit is 60, but the flow of traffic is usually between 70 and 80, unless there is traffic.

Check your keys, usually Hertz puts all the keys or fobs on one chain. One will be an administrative key, the other won't. You need to use the admin key to make the change if it's there.
If you have the admin key, it's as simple as putting in the key, stepping through the menu until you get to the mykey settings, and either remove the speed setting or disable all the settings. The owners manual will have the step by step instructions for the model.
If you don't have the admin key, you can't change it.

I guess, from a legal perspective, you are right but in a real world situation going above the speed limit is sometimes necessary.

You are not alone, in the other threads about it people have not been told either. It's silly, but if you are renting a ford, you need to ask them if there are any restrictions of mykey.
Not that they will clear them for you, but at least you will know.

Regardless, the second "master" key is either in the glovebox or in the trunk with the spare, if it was engaged at all.
I've had it engaged on a Navigator and on a Fusion from Hertz.

If I rent a car from Hertz and find that Hertz has disabled the radio 'for my safety while driving,' would the same reasoning apply?
In my opinion, implied in my agreement to rent a car from Hertz is that I am renting a car with ordinary operating functions. Cars with MyKey should have a disclaimer at time of rental, especially in western states where the speed limit is 75 or 80.
