Kauai - Spa Services recommendations
I'm heading to Kauai next week--vacation for me, work meetings for Mr. Diva--and I'm looking for some recommendations for spa services--facials, massages, etc.
I'd love recommendations for places to go (resort spas, salons, independent spas), particular services at those locations (for example, a certain massage style or special facial), and even specific therapists to ask or if you have that information. It was a friend's enthusiastic recommendation to try the Grand Wailea spa on Maui that led me to make a special trip there, but she hasn't been to Kauai, so I'm hoping some FTers have great advice! I'll be staying at the Kauai Marriott, but I'll have a car, and I'm looking forward to exploring the island. Thanks! |
Anara Spa at the Hyatt Grand Kauai. I've been and sent people. Never a disappointment (except for the fee!). Best massage therapist on earth. :)

Do they have beachside massages there? I'd love to have one outside where I can hear the ocean :-) I can hear it on a cd in a massage room anywhere on the mainland - hahaha!

However, the majority of treatment rooms do have a great view and the majority of the spa is open air (including the showers) which make one feel close to nature. I'll add a vote for the quality of service - though fees have gotten to the "insane" level in recent years. |
Unless it has changed since last Oct, the Hyatt does do beach side massages in a private cabana at the beach.

The treatment rooms at Anara have been relocated while they finish construction of additional spa facilities. So, that means they've taken guest rooms near the ocean out of service and made them into treatment rooms. Same thing happened last fall when we were there. That's when I had the most amazing massage (see ILuvParis post above) on a slightly cool and rainy day. I had the therapist turn off the annoying new age music and open the lanai doors so I could hear the birds, the rain and the ocean. It was heavenly. AND you get use of the spa facilities for the day with your treatment. GREAT chairs around the pool. If only they served Diet Coke with Lime.

This has turned into the world's longest spa renovation. I can't believe they're still not done. It has to be at least 2 years since they started.
I'm anxiously awaiting those spa treatments AND the steam room :) |
My husband was very impressed with the spa at the Kaui Marriott when we were there in July. However he is mostly impressed by the quality of the massage and the therapist ability to do really deep pressure if necessary. I didn't go in myself, but it looked pretty nice from the outside. If you are staying there, I would certainly check into it.

Thanks for all the great feedback!
