Rentals in Maui? Help!
 

I will be traveling to Maui for the first time this year and want to rent a 3b/2bath condo/house/cottage for 1-2 months, (life dream of having all the friends and family visit over that time) in Sept/Oct. I am overwhelmed with all the rental agencies online and don't know how to tell who is good to work with. Have any of you out there rented for a month or more and how did you go about finding your properties?

Any input or referals would be great!

As a former owner of a Kapalua Bay Villa, I highly recommend this property. The villas are absolutely beautiful with magnificent views. Your fantasy of living in Hawaii will truly come true in the time you spend there. I am not sure of the best way to rent a villa anymore. A bit of research should provide some answers. You want the Bay Villas.

I'd guess that 98% of visitors stay either in West Maui (Lahaina/Kaanapali/Kahana/Napili/Kapalua) or South Maui (Kihei/Wailea/Makena). Both areas offer great beaches and consistent sunshine, great restaurants and scenic drives. Have fun!

Whoa, I thought KauKau was being very open minded since the OP was asking specifically for Maui recommendations, and KauKau, offered that South Maui is as good as West Maui. If he had offered that no where was as good as Lahaina, that might have been a little one sided, but still obviously would have been within the context of the question asked.

Ho, brah! I just had to take a break from the craps table here at the Las Vegas Club where Mrs. kaukau and I are enjoying a modicum of successful rolls, (after a very nice flight on HA in F) to respond that nobody advises anybody that the Big Island has better beaches than Maui! I can advise many things that are great on the B.I.; and many things that are better on the B.I. than Maui, as a matter of fact; but beaches ain't one of 'em!!!! Serious!

Back to the craps tables! Flying home tomorrow morning on HA17, then 3 days at home, then back to Vegas for more fun on Hawai'is ninth island!
